Week 10 Preview
Before I begin, let me quickly round up Week 9 (full list of player picks here). The Billy injury has me truely stumped over what to do about my team this week & I'm also still stuck over 2 midfield spots & 2 striker spots.
However, I have cut my selection pool down from 50 to 20 players...
Given
Myhill
Vermaelen
Heitinga
Bassong
Alexander
Richards
Fabregas
Lampard
Bullard
Kranjcar
Petrov
Boateng
Drogba
Bent
Crouch
Tevez
Adebayor
Keane
Alongside Droga I'm going with either Bent & a City striker or a City Striker & a Tottenham Striker. It's either going to be Bent & Tevez, Adebayor & Crouch or Tevez & Keane. In midfield I honestly don't know, & my final defensive choice is likely to be Bassong, Richards or Sonko (depending on available funds after my strikers & midfielders are finalised).
I'll await injury news & team news (which I'll post up later today) before making any final decisions.
Now on to Week 10, which is likely to be the 1st Round of The AM Challenge (more on that later in the week)...& it's also a double week for 2 teams.
Firstly the fixtures:
Saturday, 31 October 2009
Arsenal v Tottenham, 12:45
Bolton v Chelsea, 15:00
Burnley v Hull, 15:00
Everton v Aston Villa, 15:00
Fulham v Liverpool, 15:00
Man Utd v Blackburn, 17:30
Portsmouth v Wigan, 15:00
Stoke v Wolverhampton, 15:00
Sunderland v West Ham, 15:00
Sunday, 1 November 2009
Birmingham v Man City, 16:00
Wednesday, 4 November 2009
West Ham v Aston Villa, 19:45
Now this is the first time this season with this scenario. Not the scenario of a double week (we had that in Week 1) but a situation where only 2 teams play twice. West Ham face Sunderland away & Villa at home, while Villa travel to Everton & West Ham (obviously).
Weeks like this are a real conundrum. Do you load up on West Ham & Villa players, sacrificing some discounts & some stronger players with single games? Or do you ignore the temptation as best you can, go with proven single game performers & just pick up 1or 2 double gamers? It's very confusing.
To add the confusion there plenty of other of good fixtures to consider...Man Utd home to Blackburn, Chelsea at Bolton, Sunderland home to West Ham, Man City at Birmingham, Burnley at home to Hull, Stoke at home to Wolves, Wigan at Portsmouth & there are always goals in Arsenal v Spurs.
I'm not going to tell you what you should or shouldn't do in Week 10. It's normally best to strike a balance, but that can be very difficult when there are so many good single gamers - it's really down to your gut feeling. What I will do is give you a list of players I think you should be considering.
Double gamers - Friedel, Dunne, Warnock, Cueller, Milner, Agbonlahor, Green, Upson, Illunga, Noble, Diamanti, Cole (I really like the Diamanti & Milner picks)
Man Utd - Rooney, Berbatov, Giggs, Nani, O'Shea
Chelsea - Drogba, Anelka (old club), Lampard, Deco, Ballack, Malouda
Sunderland - Bent, Reid, Malbranque, Ferdinand, Turner, Gordon
City - Adebayor, Tevez, Bellamy, SWP, Petrov, Richard, Bridge, Given
Burnley - Nugent, Carslisle, Alexander, Mears, Jensen
Stoke - Beattie, Fuller, Lawrence, Etherington, Shawcross
Wigan - Rodallega, N'Zogbia, Bramble, Scharner, Figuerroa, Melchiot
Arsenal - RvP. Fabregas, Arshavin, Rosicky, Vermaelen
Tottenham - Crouch, Keane, Lennon, Kranjcar, Bassong
Others - O'Hara, Boateng, Dunn, MTay, Billy, Saha, Torres, Gerrard
That's it for now...loads to think about. As I mentioned I'll get Week 9 injury news & any significant team news up later today & i'll do my best to put some Predicted Starting XIs up too.
What are you still trying to decide on for Week 9? What are your thoughts on tactics for a "two team double week"?
Cheers,
AM

will oshea and giggs play this week???
Good post as usual AM.
I also like the Diamanti and Milner for next fixture. Balance the team is the way to go. I will need to look at westham players couple more times.
I'm a big fan of Milner so will definitely be picking him next week. He's only had one reall bad week as I remember. May also get Agbonlahor in.
Not too sure about WH players. Will wait to see how they do this weekend.
Great work as usual AM
Cheers.
I'll try to get Agbonlahor, Milner, Warnock and Friedel into my team for week10. No WH players.
Well done, AM.

Just an idea for you AM, these players that you mention are the same every week, and the most glaringly obvious anyway. It might be worth just putting these up once, then each week saying which teams you should choose from. If people are going to choose players from a specific team, they normally know the players to go for as the names you mentioned are the only real ones who score any points anyway. And to be honest, if people playing the game don't know which players on which team are good, they shouldn't really be playing anyway. It'd save you time anyway
@ rwlwhite ==> I guess your real name is Anyway, anyway...
Ah, me thinks its season making or breaking decision time for my humble 11. The key question is whether SAF is playing mind games with Rooney's status. With any other fixture aside from Liverpool I would think not. But consdering its Rafa, and he is so easy to screw with, I think something might be going on.
The big Decision is whether to dump Rooney for two Villains Agbonlahor and Milner.
Or Rooney for probably Adebayor, which would allow me to upgrade my midfield.
If you have been reading my posts you know I will be fielding an all sick list team this week, except for Given Verm Heiti and Bassong. I have 7 players who are chronically sick listed or on the list this week-Blini, Dunn, Duff, Rooney Torres Rosicky. Maybe I should add Michael Owen just for the hell of it. Not.

AM - curious why you are not considering O'Hara this week...any reason?
@scott-
maybe because no brown this week.he`ll not playing due suspension.
so ohara need to play deep.
urgent help required!
i have 15.95 to spend on 1 mid and one forward
options:
billy/tevez
rosicky/fletcher
jarvis/eduardo
ireland/ebanks-blake
billy/agbonlahor
elliot/davies
what would you do??
are people keeping or selling billy? (i have him at 4.71
Not sure I agree with that assessment re: O'Hara...and besides, he still takes spot kicks and corners regardless of where he plays on the field.
He played the game before last as DMF and he got low point. His coach also commented about how he suits with the DMF position for their team as well. So it is not like this is the new thing, it happened once already and we got quite disappointed result for that. Of course noone can tell what is going to happen in the future, this weekends, but it is something to considered about. And for the record, you do not need to follow all AM advice, his advices are based on his own thought and judgement, it could be wrong and it could be right.
Thanks for clearing that up Ruki...I mistakenly thought we had to follow all of AM's advice and that he was always right.
Hi Scott - O'Hara is a great pick but he doesnt fit in my team this week. I still have loads of money left so my 2 midfielders will be around £10m-12m each. Otherwise O'Hara would be in consideration for sure.
Cheers,
AM
hey AM,
what would u recommend re my dilemma above? need 1 mid and 1 forward for 15.95. already have lamps o hara bullard drogba and crouch
p.s. thanks for all the good work!!
Myhill is a nobrainer against Portsmouth and sonko as filler.
My team but it changes often
Myhill
Verm Heint Sonko
Cesc Behrami Gomez Bily (I think I gammble on Bily this week)
Drogs RVP Crouch
I'm thinking Lamp instead of Cesc as I think Lamps is due a breakout game.
I'll BD Villa players and maybe Diam on Saturday
my team atm
myhill
verm heiting upson
dunn giggs billy milner
drog bent diamanti
still have 3mill, any idea??
help please,...if i were to buy a player and not save team changes and that players price rises would his price to me also rise. thanks in anticipation
of course. you can only lock in the price for those already on your team (i.e. after saving changes)
It's odd that the midweek game does not show on the WEEK 10 FIXTURES
Does this mean that it may be ignored by YFF?
