Week 21 - Player Picks
Week 20 ended as diabolically as it started, with Torres, Gerrard, Lampard & Walcott combining for 7 pathetic points last night. A special mention to the Liverpool pairing, who conjured up just 1 point between them in one of the worst home performances from a Premier League team this season. I ended up with just 41.5 in total, down to 427th place overall and at the moment I'm finding it really difficult to pick a team that can get me out of this slump!
There's no time to rest as Week 21 is upon us very shortly, the deadline being midday on New Years Day...Saturday 1st January 2011. I'm incredibly busy so won't be calculating the Blog Cup results until next week, but I've found an hour today to run through the fixtures & list out the 40 players that have my attention for the week ahead.
Stand-Out
MAN CITY v Blackpool
CHELSEA v Aston Villa
TOTTENHAM v Fulham
We know Ian Holloway will send Blackpool out to go for the win at City, but I expect that openness will see them on the end of a bit of a hiding. Chelsea will feel a huge weight lifted off their shoulders after overcoming Bolton, plus Villa are complete mess, so it'll be a home win & I find it highly unlikely that Fulham will be able to cope with the pace of Spurs at White Hart Lane.
Should-Win
MAN UNITED @ West Brom
ARSENAL @ Birmingham
SUNDERLAND v Blackburn
West Brom have slumped a bit recently, but they can be very tricky customers at the Hawthorns and we know Birmingham have a fantastic home record, so while I expect both Arsenal & United to win I think they'll both be tough games. Sunderland were extremely unlucky to lose to Blackpool, but with a touch more luck they should have too much for Blackburn.
Draws
Stoke v Everton
West Ham v Wolves
Wigan v Newcastle
Liverpool v Bolton
Difficult to call these games either way, so all four will be going down as draws on my accumulator.
Players (* indicates a risk, check team news)
KEEPERS
Hart
Gordon
Reina
DEFENDERS
Bale
Kolarov
Ferreira
Bosingwa
Hutton
Agger *
Bramble
Koscielny
Upson
Stam
MIDFIELDERS
Van Der Vaart
Nani *
Fabregas
Silva
Lampard
Malouda
Nasri
Watson
Walcott
Henderson
Gerrard
Holden
Pennant
Parker
Jarvis
STRIKERS
Tevez
Berbatov
Rooney
Bent
Balotelli
Obinna
Crouch/Pavlyuchenko
Carroll
Elmander
Van Persie
Torres
That's all I have time for this week, but normal service should be resumed for Week 22, with a full player picks post + a poll, and I'll get the Blog Cup results done too.
My current team: Reina, Ferreira, Kolarov, Bale, Silva, Lampard, Van Der Vaart, Walcott, Malouda, Bent, Balotelli
Obviously it's lacking a Man Utd presence, I'm still unsure on having both Lampard & Malouda, while Walcott is a risk although he was rested last night so he should start. Ferreria will play as Ivanovic picked up his 5th booking vs Bolton so he's a great filler in defence & Watson could come in for Silva as he'll be on all penalties + set pieces in N'Zogbia's absence...but I'm fairly happy with the rest of it.
Please let me know how your team is shaping up. How have you faired over the Xmas period? Any tips for Week 21?
Cheers,
AM (wishing you all a very Happy New Year!)

I have Bentdner before his price went up (at 6). He is now at 12. Any suggestions?
Also, how about Rooney @ 14.98 - you have to think he has to score soon right??? yeahhhh now watch me drop him and see him get a hat trick!!
nik: do you think that Lescot will be start for MC match?
who is Rooney? I have never heard of him. Ohhh, was he that guy that used to score all the time last season??? Is that him?
i think i would stay with carson against m.united..who knows he will keep a clean sheet
AM you listed Torres in Player Picks! I'd score as well with Craig Bellamy in as a striker. I'm just bitter because I had him the other night for a whopping zero.
BCB
Anderson at 5.31? he could surely get his value back...
OS: bendtner will probably start on the bench this week. why bothers? i'm keeping Rooney myself.
Reina
Ferreira/Bramble/A.Cole
Nasri/Lampard/VDV/Silva
AJ/Rooney/Mario
1.41 left in the bank.

will bosingwa and ferreira confirm play this weekend?
Ivanovic is out as AM has said, thus Ferreira and Bosingwa are both a go.
looking at Cech/ Bale Kolrov Bosingwa/ VdV Watson Lampard Fabregas Anderson/ Balotelli Van Persie
what do you folks think about my team?
I hope to god Nani plays this week. He got me a fat 0 for last 2 games but hold him at 13.xx. Such a sick situation cos hes soooo good. Any news on his injury ??
After last weeks 24 pts, i'm going with the weirdest team i could come up with, also picking the gk whom i believe to be the worse in epl.
Krul
Kolarov Boateng Bassong
Nani VdV Nasri Albrighton
Balotelli Tevez Rv.Persie
2 players i don't have but strongly believe will score.
Jarvis and Pavulychenko
liverpool vs bolton....draw!!! it should be bolton must win!!
I think I might run with this:
Krul
Bale-Kolarov-PRobinson
VdV-Silva-Malouda-Lampard-Essien
Berbatov-Balotelli
To Chelesea heavy? Switch out Lampard or Essien for RVP or for another C - Anelka or someone else?
Thanks.

vdvart,nani,nasri,m.davies
welbeck,caroll,elmander

happy new year all.
supercoach.
Does anyone have any clarification on the rescheduled matches?
example:
Wed 1/12/11 - day 19 Blackpool v. Liverpool
Will these matches be played as a single match for that "week"? or will they be played with points earned added to your day 19 talley (given you had missed out on players picked due to the reschedule)?
Just curious. Have a safe and Happy New Year!
marco
Those picking Robinson (Bolton) should take note because he is suspended for 1 game due to 5YCs accumulation.
There is a fairly long list of players suspended this weekend. Don't neglect your homework. :-)
http://www.thefa.com/thefa/disciplinary/suspensionlists
@Franky10: Just so you know, WBA is missing Jara and Tamas through suspensions.
which combination better..
silva+welbeck
or
pennat-pavluychenco..
in dilemma
lol budak lipan?
fuckin' Malaysia!!!
Who should I chose?
Nasri or Lampard?
Can only have one of em in my team...
Please advise..
~P.K~
Is Gerrard worth picking?
Aah. another midweek in week 22. So troublesome to pick players for midweek.
Looks like the Blackpool v Liverpool game on 12th January will be included in the week as well.
hey am why don't you try out some other fantasy football games that have attractive prizes to be won? It's a bit wasted if you only concentrate on yahoo.

By the way anyone know when Schwarzer will gone to Asian Cup? Stockdale could be nice option, cheap.
Fulham vs West Brom - Week 21
Wigan vs Fulham - Week 22
Fulham vs Stoke - Week 23
Liverpool (nahh) vs Fulham - Week 24
Fulham vs Newcastle - Week 25
Nice fixtures including vs liverpool :D, well yea on paper ;)

Malaysia....aren't there cannibals there?
What's your problem Anon???????? No cannibals here, NEVER. Malaysia is a modern country. Let's discuss about football here.
Charlie Adam...what's the deal?
J0J0
@DevilxDevil, I apologize for my comment about cannibals in Malaysia...I was confused with remote Indonesia :P....I dont know my geography! Sincerest apologies to you and your people...thank you wikipedia!
Anyone picking up Rodallega? he will have a brace!
My team:
Cech
Kolarov/Hutton/Bosingwa
Silva/VDV/Lampard/Nasri/Anderson
Rooney/Balotelli
stc3
@Devil: Just a heads up the posted link is about Nani facing Birmigham not West Brom :D
Cech
Bale Kolarov Bosingwa
Van der Vaart Watson Lampard Silva
Balotelli Tevez Zigic
If I don't start improving, I'm going to have to seriously consider my time investment in YFF. From 313 a few short weeks ago to now 3,161 and falling EVERY week...
Change of strategy...diversification. No more than 2 players per team, and a total of 8 teams represented:
Hart
Kolarov-Bale-Ferreira
VdV-Tchoyi-Lampard-Watson-Pennant
Carroll-Welbeck
My only current dilemma: Keep Welbeck or switch to RvP?
It's a MUST score big week for me...need to turn things around.
it is Cahill play this week??
Fred
Cahill will play
hart
bale kolarov jara(need upgrade)
mgp vdv lampard barton
piquionne chamakh balotelli
any comment?
@Kellz Sorry, wrong link. Here the real one. (Double checked) :D

How about:
Reina
Bale kolarov ferreira
vdv watson lampard nasri
berbatov balotelli welbeck
Guy's do you have any advice? I have just 0,43 left.
HI AM/MANAGERS
ANY NEWS ON NANI ? WILL HE BE PLAYING. PLS HELP AS I DONT HAVE ANY INFO.
MANY THANKS
My team
Hart
Kolarov Bale Ferreira
VDV Barton Gerrard Lampard
Balotelli Rooney Benjani
Still unsure about Ferreira's starting status. Some are hinting that bruma may start instead. Can anyone shed some light on this? Benjani is another concern but at just 2 units, he will return his value if he starts. If he doesn't, it's only 2 units wasted.
Next week I believe is a double week for both Liverpool and Blackpool but there are not many attractive options from those two teams. The main men should be gerrard and adam. Bearing in mind that liverpool have two away games, I am not too keen on torres. Perhaps a member of each teams' defence plus gerrard anf adam should be enough.

Hasn't Ancelotti done his press conference yesyerday?

Nani

By that article on nani, i doubt he will be playing. But WBA in defence crisis, utd should win
Man city may well rest alot of players BALO AND SILVA MAY NOT PLAY -
Carroll is set to miss up to three games:
http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/newcastle-united/nufc-news/2010/12/31/andy-carroll-set-to-miss-key-games-72703-27912788/
Beware everyone! Those players who did not get rests in the last 2 games will get rest this week. Those like Bale, Coleman, VDV
What do you guys think about Lescott? He started the last game with Toure out. But with Kompany and Toure back, will he retain his place? Maybe he will be moved to the left side, but where does Kolarov go then? Comments please.
please comment my team ? Any advice is welcomed
gk: reina
def: coleman bale kompany
mid: nasri palacios(filler) VDV silva and ???(someone for 12.85)
frd: ballotelli( not sure) carroll
Any comments are welcome:
Reina
Kolarov Hutton Ferreira
VDV Lampard Hendersen Malouda
Piquionne Pavlyuchenko Welbeck
Hoping for more than the massive 36.5 points last week.
Which Man Utd forward is better? I'm pretty sure Berba and Rooney will not start because they started both the last 2 games. Macheda or Hernandez?
Catching and analyzing a team's hot streak can win you some serious money.
