Week 9 - Update
All eyes on Carlo Ancelotti as we await his press conference at around noon today - praying he names his team as he has done on multiple occasions during his Chelsea career. This post will be updated as soon as I hear more.
UPDATE: Bosingwa to start at right-back, Drogba also starts, while Alex, Lampard & Ramires are out...waiting on more news but this could mean a start for Zhirkov alongside Essien & Mikel in midfield.
Wayne Rooney has done a giant U-turn and has signed a new 5 years deal at Old Trafford days after saying he wanted to leave. I honestly didn't think it was all about money but it turned out I was wrong, as he bluffed his way to an even bigger salary. I'll be interested to know what the Man Utd fans make of all this. He's out for 3 weeks with an ankle injury by the way.
Redknapp has revealed Sandro and Van Der Vaart will come back in but has suggested Bale is "running on empty", which could point to him being rested. My personal opinion is Bale will start, he's in the form of his life and he's a young lad who should be raring to go after 48 hours rest.
In other news I feel I must reiterate this point - Chris Kirkland WILL PLAY this weekend as Al-Habsi cannot play against his parent club Bolton, so if you are picking him @ 1.00 with the plan to take zero you'll need to think again. I'm taking the risk with him as are many others, but some of the comments in my player picks post suggested some people hadn't yet realised the Kirk will be back in the Wigan team...no harm in clarifying!
Peter Odemwingie was one of the most interesting Week 9 picks, but apparently he's still struggling with injury so it's unlikely he'll be ready to face Fulham.
Adebayor scored a hat-trick for Man City last night and Mancini has suggested he may go 4-4-2 vs Arsenal giving K2 the chance to be paired with Tevez against his old club. We all remember how that ended last season. To add to the confusion, both Silva and AJ played last night, so we really don't know which one starts. Silva's form has been good so he could get the nod (I'm assuming Milner gets one of the winger spots after he was rested).
Cameron Jerome could return for Birmingham, and if he does it's possible Zigic drops to the bench despite his first goal last weekend.
Arteta is doubtful, while Osman joins Louis Saha, Victor Anichebe, Marouane Fellaini, Jack Rodwell and Steven Pienaar on the sidelines. This means Bily could get a rare start.
That's it for now - please keep checking back throughout the day as I'll be adding any important team/injury news to this post. If you read/hear anything you feel may be of use please add it to the comments section below.
How's your team coming along? What news are you waiting on? Please remember you still have time to vote, poll closes at 4pm UK time: http://www.misterpoll.com/polls/505502

If anyone's interested (and has the time!) Ancelotti's press conference is now at 12.30 and can be seen at http://www.chelseafc.com/page/LivePressConferences/0,,10268,00.html
C'mon Drogs!
Drogba fit!!
Rooney signs 5 year deal to stay at Man U.
What a kerfuffle about nowt.
AM, Baird is set to start at MF, is a good option?
boswingwa starting tomorrow
Roo-turn !!
will rooney now miraculously recover from his injury . ?
S.P.
poor city. muppets for rooney's cynical greed! please tell me you didn't see it coming. 260K per week? you're having a laugh! shades of ronaldinho's flirtation with utd a few years back...
Nuno
I personally think el nino might give some great points this week when they meet Blackburn at Anfield. I will put my money on him. My current team look like this:
KIRKLAND
BALE
SALCIDO
KOCHENSKY
VDV
C. ADAM
ZOGBIA
MALOUDA
CHAMAKH
EL NINO
OBINNA
azree, same as 2 weeks ago when liverpool hosted blackpool...well rested but after 5 minutes he came off due to injury...think twice :)
1malaysia
we wont know what gonna happen tomorrow. Sometimes we should take a risk to win this competition. Nobody can predict what will happen. Maybe Drogba just can play a few minutes and injured himself. Or maybe he can score 5 goals against Wolves. Same goes to El Nino. I never put him in my team. Just wanted to try my luck.. Just my 2 cents :-)
1malaysia
I'm hung up on just one last forward pick. Currently have Chamakh(@7.52), but have 2.05 in the bank. Considering any one of:
Elmander
Carroll
Kalou (not starting, it seems)
Obinna
Dembele
Pavlyuchenko
Chicharito
Although, Cesc is set to start, so it might mean more chances for Chamakh.
Any thoughts?
Currently:
Jussi
Boateng-Jacobsen-Zhirkov
FloMa-Adam-VdV-Nani
Drogba-Chamakh-Piquionne
Also, should I switch Jacobsen for Bosingwa and risk 2 Chelsea defenders? Unfortunately I'm 0.02 short of switching Zhirkov to Bosingwa.
I wish somebody will pick my team for me
Ebi
Rooney FTW!!
Was really mad at him when he said he's gonna leave but now that he's staying.. get your form back and all is forgiven!
I'm not too keen on Zhirkov cos i see him coming off for Kalou before the 75th min, i also believe Man City will concede against Arsenal.
Ebi
azree, u r rite...wish u all the best...
malaysian boleh :)
Drogba / Bent / Nani / Malouda or
Drogba / Tevez / Nani / Brunt or
Drogba / Tevez / Brunt / Malouda?
Please help!!!
@ Please help!!! (what a name?):
You're really lucky to have such a choice to make... Sincerely, all the options are great but I lean more towards Option 2.
Hope that helps...
My team:
CaptainKirk/Bailout,Companyman,Perchingbird,Skiller/vanderSomething,Adam&Eve,Nanny,Bluntly/ClaassADrug,Father'sheart.
Rate my team, IF you can...
Bon week-end, les gars!!!
rooney, don't care he's going: don't care he's staying. just so long as he's not a city player!
@kwj i'm in the same boat 10 and a bit for a striker:
odemwingie - injured?
dembele - not a good match up
obina - everyone has him
carroll - inconsistent
kalou - unlikely to play
elmander - dead to me
i like your idea for hernandez then i can upgrade elsewhere.
This week litteraly sucks...
I'm tempted to drop FloMa since I have no fucking idea if he's going to play. However, if he plays he is a must have.
Same goes with Zhirkov.
I'm holding on to Obinna up front, paired with Drogs. But I need a third option for less than 10. However, there are no good options. As seen above, Odem injured, Dembele naaah, Carroll naah, kalou on the bench, elmander is my least favourite player out there. He's just rubbish(yea, I'm Swedish).
On the other hand, it's weeks like those I usually score high... But I still hate them.
agree with Naning. ancelotti's silence is worrying. you can only assume some big players will be rested. anelka or malouda etc. i've switched malouda to gerrard due to certainty of playing. just gonna have to cross fingers on anelka. can't risk zhirkov either .
S.P.
kirk
bosingwa-ivanovic-terry-zhirkov
nani-VDV-adam-malouda
tevez-sturridge
out on a ridiculous limb here, but chelsea havent let a goal in for almost 700 minutes at the bridge and I have a feeling zhirkov will play. drogba not going to be back on top fitness and sturridge to come on for him and score a brace. absolute bollocks, but you never know.
help!
Having a hard time on my front line - Love my midfield
Kirk
Bale Boateng Zhirkov
Nani FloMo Adam VDV
Hernadez Anelka Adebayor
I could drop Anelka and FloMo and put in Drogs and a filler
Will Malouda start?
Thanks for the updates AM! I love your blog!
Team name: DIMITAR BERBATOV FC [AM.Blog]
I'm really unhappy to have dropped out of the Blog cup but I will bounce back! After the first week I was in the top 100 but currently I'm just outside of the first 1000! Since the differencies are really small I hope to join top 500 this week.
My saved team is:
Kirk
Coleman,Bosingwa,Salcido
VdV,Adam,Mereiles,Silva
Berb,Drogs,Torres
I love my team and I won't change it!
Wish you all good luck!
@Anon 4:32 - I've been wondering that myself. I read chelseafc.com, and it doesn't mention anything about Malouda. But, according to FantasyFootballScout, they say Ancelotti announced the starting 11, and they have Malouda listed.
Where do they show the starting 11? I don't see it anywhere, so I'm not sure. All I see is a press conference video, but when I click play, it just says 'buffering' and never starts.
harry seems to suggest that bale would be benched...
Love Boswinga, but will he play the whole 90?
Chamakh or Silva for this week?
@Jerinho
Doubt it... think Ferreira will be subbed in around the 60-70 min mark.
Berba/di santo -> Hernandez/obinna
Any opinions?
- @NG
@NG
Hernandez/obinna
Will Boateng play?
My team for Week 9:
Kirkland / Bale, Kompany, Perch, Squillaci / VDV, Nani, Brunt, Adam / Drogba, Obinna / 99.99
Please rate my team...
I hate this week, I'm all over the shop.
Have reshuffled team at least 8 times today
Foster
Kompany Boateng Zhirkov
FloMo VDV Adam Nani Nolan
Hernadez Tevez
Looks decent Tayo.
My team is looking like this:
Foster
Boateng Zhirkov Bosingwa
VDV Nani FloMo Adam
Bent Obinna
Could upgrade Bosingwa to Ivanovic or Obinna to someone at 13pt mark.
Juggernaut
I believe Kalou will start while Malouda/Zhirkov battle for the last midfield slot, i hope so
wk9-team chelsea
Kirkland
Ivanovic Boateng Cole Bosingw
VdV Nani Adam Essien
Tevez Kalou
Ebi.s
According to Fantasy Football Scout, Chelsea's starting lineup is:
Cech, Bosingwa, Ivanovic, Terry, Cole; Zhirkov, Essien, Mikel; Anelka, Malouda, Drogba
Anyone have any confirmation of this?
oops Silva also in midfield :)
Juggernaut
My current team & maybe no more changes after this..
Foster
Salcido Zhirkov Hutton Bosingwa
Adam VDV N'Zogbia Silva
Tevez Drogba
Any comment guys?
Thanks
-MySL
I made risky action to get rid off Bale from my team. I brought in 5 Chelsea players. And my team look like this:
KIRKLAND
BOSINGWA, ASHLEY COLE, ZHIRKOV, JACOBSEN
VDV, C.ADAM, MALOUDA
DROGBA, CHAMAKH, OBINNA
I am thinking to bring in Mikel for Jacobsen! what do you think? need some comments.
Thanks
craig gardner comes back after red card and as birms top scorer surely a good pick?
if i am not mistaken, c. gardner still on suspension.
C.Gardner is not back and there's no news on Chelsea line-up besides the fact that Bosingwa will start. No Mis-information Pls.
what about Carroll ??? Is it Ameobis time again??? or is Carroll playing?
and what about Zhirkov??
i don't know what to do...
SaX.-
@anon 7:38--Gardner has one more game to serve on his suspension before he can return. He will not play this weekend.
@anon 7:35--Mikel's returns are low even when Chelsea demolish their opponents, so stick with Jacobsen.
@Jerinho: Because of his attacking style of play, Bosingwa is likely to bring decent returns even if he does not qualify for clean sheet points.
It is a full moon tonight, so I am going with this bizarre configuration:
Foster
Jacobsen-Zhirkov-Boateng
VDV-Malouda-Nani-Brunt-Adam
Drogba-Hernandez
What do you think?
@anon 8:09pm
I can match your bizarre configuration:
Kirkland
Boateng, Cole, Bale, Jacobsen
VDV, Adam, Silva
Carroll, Tevez, Bent
obinna or brunt?
I'm torn like SfSS, except between Obinna, Elmander, and Brunt. Any suggestions? Thanks
Brunt both Gavin and SfSS
rwlwhite I like it except Kirkland scares me big time, I can't pick him even though I know everyone else is. I would pick him if I knew he wasn't playing!!
anon 8:09 I like that team, getting malouda, nani AND drogba in can't be easy!!
I have 2 options and I would value advice!!
Carson
Bale Zhirkov Bosingwa
VDV Adam Silva Brunt Gomez
Drogba Adebayor
OR
Carson
Bale Zhirkov Boateng
VDV Adam Silva AJ Reo-Coker
Drogba Tevez
any thoughts?
@Donut
Don't know about your funds but i like forwards from 2 line-up, but midfield from the 1st. AJ Silva - one of them should definitely be on the bench, in case of 1st line-up you also can end up with 2 city players not starting, or at least one + zhirkov not a clear starter, though i have him in my lineup, if you could fit brunt into 2nd lineup, i would definitely go with that
mikel/heskey/boateng/obina/drogba
or
bassong/jacobsen/torres/malouda/hernadez ??
CECH
BALE IVANOVIC KOMPANY
NANI MALOUDA FABREGAS VDV
DROGBA TEVEZ TORRES
in my dreams
and now for real :
Captain Kirk
Bale Bosingwa Zhirkov
Nani Adam VDV Mikel Muamba
Drogba Obinna
out of the blog cup so i'm throwing caution to the wind first time i going 3-5-2 and i actually like how it looks
Ac Trinidad wk 9 team
Carson
Bale J.Bo Zhirkov
Malouda VDV Gerrard Nani J. Thomas
Adebayor Chamwow
Red Eyes
Shakanorbs...Wish I had more certainty about jerkoff. Can't afford Coleman. So here is the team.
The Captain
BoBaBo (guess)
Mal/VDV/Nasri/Adam
Tevez,Drogba,X-Mas Carol
hope it works
bobabo of bosingwa bale boateng.
Carson (a hunch)
Bale Boateng Zhirkov
Nani VDV Barton C.Adam Meireles
Drobinna
@Emperor- i'll go with first option.
My final team look like this:
KIRKLAND
BOSINGWA, J.BOATENG, ZHIRKOV, JACOBSEN
VDV, C.ADAM, MALOUDA, NANI
DROGBA, OBINNA
Final question for wk9
a.
Kirkland
Ivanovic Boateng Cole Boss
VdV Nani Adam Essien
Tevez Kalou
or
b.
Kirkland
Ivanovic Boateng Zhirkov Boss
VdV Nani Adam Hleb
Tevez Drogba
Ebi
Guys, i hv 2 option and i nees some advice!
Kirk
Bale Bosingwa Boateng
Adam VDV Nani Silva Brunt
Drog Obinna
or
Kirk
Bale Bosingwa (Zhirkov)
Adam VDV Nani Brunt (Meireles)
Drog Obinna
YK
@Ebi - 2nd one. But if you can fit both Essien and Drogba by dropping one Chelsea DF it would be nice
unable to finalize my team... need help here people...
hart
skrtel, alcaraz, enrique
barton, vdv, c.adam, nani
drogba, chamakh, pavlyuchenko
kinda worried about enrique and Pavlyuchenko... should i change them to baird and harnandez?
or sell nani and get torres?
~P.K~
@ Sk- thanks! Only Ivanovic would make the Essien switch possible and he's the one who's sure to get the 90 but i just might do it cos i'm liking the Essien pick this wk.
I've got 2 options now...
hart
skrtel, alcaraz, enrique
barton, vdv, c.adam, nani
drogba, chamakh, pavlyuchenko
or
hart
skrtel, alcaraz, baird
barton, vdv, c.adam, meireles
drogba, chamakh, torres
which is good?
Anyone have thoughts on Malou or Kalou starting? Drop him for a Nani guaranteed start? Any thoughts on a Varney or T.Fletch pick? Having trouble choosing...Here it is:
Kirky
Bos (will he play for 75 his 1st game back?) Zhir/Evatt
Malou/VdV/Essien/Gutierrez
Drogs/Kalou& ????? I am thinking Varney or T.Fletch???PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!
Am I crazy to think he'll start Kalou over Anelka??? Not much on Kalou starting...just a hunch...
Thoughts??
Kirk
Boateng, Bosingwa, Salcido
Adam, Nani, VdV, Gerrard, Malouda
Chamakh, Torres
Hate em but I got a feeling about 'Pool
@anon 5:39: Liverpool have disappointed me time after time so if I had a hunch I would pick either one over the other, but why not? I am not so sure about Malouda, though. There's a chance that he won't start, so it might be safer to pick Drogba/Anelka/Essien.
@Ganja: Kalou have been getting quite impressive returns for a guy starting on the bench most of the time. Even if he starts on the bench, if Chelsea gets up early, he's likely to come on in early for Malouda, so maybe he's a good idea
Dear AM and friends
Hope you can help to decide this sigh...
Opt a
kirkland

@Nich: If i were u, I will pick the 2nd opt. The combination quite good, i like ur DF & MF the most..almost same as mine:
Foster
Salcido Zhirkov Hutton Bosingwa
Adam VDV N'Zogbia Silva
Tevez Drogba
any comment on my team selection guys?
MySL
Thanks...Not an easy decision...Why can't he give us the starting 11 like the past two weeks??? Would make my life so much easier...I don't know what to do...
I'm going all in for Chelsea defenders... ^^
Kirk
Zhirkov Terry Bosingwa
Adam Nani VDV Brunt Gomez
Obinna Drogba
Kindly comment, Thanks.
Nesnie
Malouda will probably not start, that`s why I go for Nani
Any idea if Di Santo will start ??
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/oct/22/wiganathletic-boltonwanderers
Di Santo had 10 stitches in his lip this week after a collision in training. I think it's just slight doubt and he can play
Bale is uncertain
"The manager is also wary that Wednesday's hat-trick hero Gareth Bale has had little rest in recent weeks and has hinted at making changes as we return to domestic action. "
I have 15.1 to spend on a midfielder and a forward..........advice please
Adam and Di Santo
KALOU, OBINNA, CHAMAKH OR ELMANDER
@aonymous 10:02
my team:

So, AM and another managers, any news on MALOUDA?
He will play or not?
-JACK-
Yo guys,
Is the chelsea lineup here? And how about Nasri
ive got him with discount but cesc is back.
P.Eter
Can't make up my mind. Any thoughts on the following...
Salcido @ 5.87 / Barton @ 5.49
OR
Zhirkov / Obinna
Cheers Guys.
obina/mikel/bale/jacobsen
or
zhirkov/malouda/hernandez/heskey ?
@ Emperor
Currently got
Kirk
Bale/Zhirkov/Bosingwa/Boateng
Malouda/VDV/Nani/Barton
Drogba/Piquionne
Had to go 4-4-2 to fit Drogba in.
Worried there are too many non definitre starters though. Any advice or options welcome.
Thanks guys.
my player pick choices for this week:
robinson
alcaraz
baird
da costa
sagna
a.cole
ferdinand
olsson
etherington
bily
gomez
rodallega
bent
gkinz
Bale's in line-up and Sandro's bench
Reluctantly Bale had to go to bring in Drogba.
Bale won't have the legs to carry a tired Spurs side even against a weakened Everon. After a weeks rest Spurs face Man United and a congested fixtue list.
