Week 18 - My Team

Wow, it's chaos in the UK...but my internet connection is back!

Thank you so much to everyone for keeping blog readers up to date on the weather , in the "Help!" post, epecially Birty - excellent stuff & much appreciated!

Currently the following games are off:

Birmingham v Newcastle
Liverpool v Fulham
Wigan v Aston Villa

But I wouldn't be surprised if we lose more...as I write this I'm looking at pictures of Arsenal's pitch and it is COVERED in snow, so don't be surprised if that goes to. There's simply nothing that can be done in weeks like this - any points you get are a bonus; it's just insane!

UPDATE: Arsenal v Stoke is OFF

UPDATE: Chelsea v Man Utd is OFF

UPDATE: West Brom v Wolves is OFF

UPDATE:  Blackpool v Tottenham is OFF

Below is my saved team. I probably have loads of risks; possible non-starters or players in games that'll could still be postponed, but I guess there's nothing that can be done.

Robinson, Jara, Kolarov, Bale, Brunt, Van Der Vaart, Nasri, Pedersen, Lampard, Balotelli, Van Persie

Blackpool v Spurs will probably be off too, but I wasn't prepared to dump big discounts for other players that could still have their games postponed, it would be a total waste.

Sorry again that I couldn't keep you up to date, but good luck to all of you - hope you can get some points on the board! :)

Cheers,
AM

  1. First..

I sel Reina and Torres, Brum immediatelly after the postponement. But I am not so sure that I went to correct replacement. Ended up with Robinson, persie and Fabregas. If then Arsenal also postponed. I am screwed..

  15. will the points be updated for postponed game when they resume?

  16. @shadows

Nope. The postponed games will just be in another week.

  17. Sunderland is clear and clean pitch, players not wearing gloves, one of the coaches is wearing shorts. I understand many other stadiums (maybe not Blackpool) are fine , just the transportation to the game and safety are bad, so games are postponed-- quite different in the States.

  22. Six Premier League games have fallen victim of the weather. Chelsea's crunch clash with Manchester United at the top of the table scheduled for Sunday is off and so is Blackpool's encounter with Tottenham.

  25. It was my pleasure AM, you ever need a hand again just shout.

Tell you what annoyed me. There was nothing from Arsenal until just before 12 and then it was called off about 10 past 12. According to the BBC 5 Live reporter there was absolutely no chance of it going ahead and they weren't even making an effort to put the game on.

I hope west brom play tomorrow but I doubt they will, still have Gyan and Bardsley playing in Sunderland.

  26. Lol Birty I can almost see their smug, knowing smiles while we all scrambled for Nasri/Fabs/RvP to replace our original lineups.. X(

  27. What a mess!!! Most of us will be lucky to have 3 or 4 players actually play this week. Sigh.

So, looking onto next week - Bolton home to West Brom - should be goals in that one. And Wolves-Wigan has zero chance of a CS, I'm tipping that one for some YFF points too. Therefore, Milijas/Hunt, Elmander, Rodellega, Brunt are all in my reckoning. Nani could be useful against Sunderland, but boy is he expensive.

  29. Thanks Nik, from Arizona

Looks like there is no BD this week, I don't even think there's a barn. Maybe on Monday.

I have five, maybe six players.

  30. WBA postponed as well

  31. if they don't postpone Man City's game I should have a few players to look forward to and avoid the big bagel.

Then again, hopefully City wins 10-0 with Super Mario scoring all 10 goals so I can bag a decent score this week.

  32. so many games postponed :(

    ReplyDelete
  33. BTW, Rooney and Torres have gone down in price by .40 and .20 since yesterday. Berbs went way, way down by 7.00 or so.
    From Arizona

Oh, with WB-Wolves off, I am at 4 points with two to play!!!!! kind of silly.

  34. As a Chinese, I don't read the pre-match reports too often, and I don't even know the postponements until 23:00(15:00 at UK maybe, when the games were planned to kick-off.) What a nightmare for all YFF players!

Only 3 of my players might play this week after WBA's postponement, with two City players still uncertain. Anyway let's hope City play the game on time.

    Merry Xmas to you all!

  35. 6 players not playing today for me! - Torres, Nasri, Nani, VDV, Defoe and Skrtel.

Pedersen and Robinson are guranteed playing, while I will have to pray hard that City plays well for my trio of Boateng, Kolarov and Balotelli.

  36. my faith in nelsen paid off. i had him last week and kept him again. i knew he would keep up his scoring streak.

  37. I said Blackburn were going to be useless against Westham and they didn't disappoint, only thing was Green missed the match. 0-0 or 1-1 i said.

    ReplyDelete
  38. By the looks of it, Blackburn was disappointing because they tried to please the owners by playing an attacking formation of 4-4-2. Under Sam, they were far better or more effective playing 4-4-1-1 or 4-5-1.

Fixing things that ain't broken? I am now really unsure of picking up Blackburn players in future.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Why did Berbatov drop to 14 while Drogba remained at 21? Some people could get Negative points with the way this is going.

    ReplyDelete
  40. well i had 3 blackburn members, too bad they all disappointed. now time for my man city trio balo, kola, and silva to boost my score

    ReplyDelete
  41. Robinson +1 last week, this week will be -1 and Blackburn to lose to stoke next week. I'm dropping Robinson like a bad habit.

  42. I've been out and about in Manchester today and I'm shocked that the Blackburn game was on.

Since the BBC is predicting more freezing temperatures overnight and more snow on Monday, City's game is looking in danger but with an entire day Monday to clear the pitch from any overnight snow and two days of traffic on the surrounding roads then there's a better chance of them playing than if they were playing tomorrow.

  48. 6 points woo hoo! Actually went up 83 places, crazy!

Actually, with 3 Man City players (Hart, Kolarov, Silva), there is still some hope if that match still gets played.
