Help!

Hi guys...bit of a problem here - I had no internet connection when I got home from work last night & it has still not returned. I've managed to use my iphone to save my team this morning & write this quickly, but the connection is so so slow I've not been able to check any team news / injury new online & can't get in to the chatroom...I just had to save what I had on the screen to ensure I didn't get a big fat zero.

The weather in the UK is unbelievable, snow is falling heavily, I imagine we're going to lose a lot of games but again I'm sorry, I'm afraid I can't check to let you know - if anyone is able to do updates via the comments section upto the deadline to help others that would be hugely appreciated.

Cheers,
AM

  2. Hi I am worried about Blackpool vs Tottenham as they have no heating ,what's your thoughts? It is tomorrow though, maybe thawed out a bit?

  3. Hi AM, I should be able to keep the updates coming as I'm not going anywhere. At the moment this is what I've read:

Wigan are very doubtful that they'll play
Blackburn are hopeful but not optimistic.

  9. As stated above, Wigan is now off.

a 10am update from Blackburn (at 9:50!) says "As of 10am, today's game against West Ham United remains on as the pitch is now clear, supporters are advised to continually check the official website for further updates in the run-up to the 3.00pm kick-off."

No news on Liverpool, Sunderland, Arsenal.

Birmingham are very confident of playing.

  12. Despite the adverse weather conditions overnight and into this morning today's game against Newcastle at St. Andrew's is still scheduled to go ahead.

Due to the undersoil heating system the pitch remains soft and playable and the falling snow is being regularly swept off the surface. birmingham a go then

  14. FC United of Manchester vs Marine has been cancelled.

    News from Blackburn:
"Rovers' Barclays Premier League match against West Ham United will go ahead as planned.

From 5.30am this morning Blackburn Rovers staff have been working hard clearing last night's snowfall in which some three to four inches fell in the Ewood area.

The pitch is now fully clear of snow and the work continues to ensure that all areas inside and outside the ground are likewise.

As always, supporters are advised to set off early for the match, and to wear suitable clothing for the chilly conditions.

No further updates on the situation are planned unless there is further significant snowfall."

  22. Arsenal go or not ?

  23. good spot anon: I'd stopped looking at liverpool's site partly because i thought it was on and partly because it was making me sick.

    10:30 Update

    Liverpool vs Fulahm is off
    Wigan vs Villa is off

    Birmingham vs Newcastly ON
Blackburn vs West Ham ON (barring any last minute snowfall)

Sunderland vs Bolton - no news
Arsenal vs Stoke - no news

    No news is good news.

    As for tomorrow:

At the moment, I'd be very surprised if Blackpool play tomorrow, if Liverpool have had to cancel then Blackpool must be a serious doubt - BUT that's only speculation and not fact.
Chelsea vs United will almost certainly be on, Rupert Murdoch himself will be driving a snow plow rather than lose the TV audience
West Brom is almost Birmingham so if Birmingham play then I'd bet money on West Brom playing.

City vs Everton - anything could happen

  28. A Blackpool spokeman just stated "I'd say there's a 60% chance that the game will be postponed".

    ReplyDelete
  29. any news of arsenal?

  34. 11am update:

No more concrete news. Its started snowing again in Manchester - only lightly but I'm going to keep an eye on Blackburn vs West Ham again but I reckon it'll go ahead.

There's less than 2 hours to the Sunderland kick off and there's no news from there so assume that game is on. Still nothing from Arsenal.

    ReplyDelete
  35. hat about Blackpool - where has this 60% chance of play comment come from???

    ReplyDelete
  36. Does anyone know who is going to be Arsenal's starting keeper?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Liverpool vs Fulham and Wigan vs Aston Villa both officially off.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Is this "60% chance" a real statement? I simply can't find it anywhere. Anyway, even if my guts say that one way or another the game will be on, I wouldn't risk buying Bale, VdV or Pavlyuchenko at full price

    Angelos

    ReplyDelete
  39. It's actually 63.18% chance

    ReplyDelete
  40. Damn, do you think RVP will do well?

    ReplyDelete
  41. I think once again Chamakh is a better pick. I don't know why. I just have this feeling

    ReplyDelete
  42. he's making it up

    ReplyDelete
  43. Do you think he'll even play?

    ReplyDelete
  44. It just went up to 64.42%; I'm buying Bale and VDV - I already have Adam on a discount (keeping).

    ReplyDelete
  45. Chamakh/Van Persie (Cham looked sluggish at United...time for RvP to start?)

    - I think Nik would have picked RVP.

    ReplyDelete
  46. RVP or Elmander ? (Replacing an Aston Villa player)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Who will play? "W. Szczesny or L.Fabianski?

    ReplyDelete
  48. "Heavy snow is now causing a concern at St. Andrews"

Brum vs Newcastle may be called off!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Lol, I found a webcam of Blackpool's east stand but the last update was september 2008! I can't find anything on tomorrow's game at Blackpool to confirm that quote but I would say I think its an accurate assesment even if its not an actual quote.

No more news in the last half hour but the snow fall in that time in Manchester has been significant (for the UK anyway!)

Don't think we'll get any more news before the deadline. I'm off to dig my sister's car out of the snow. Although I'm not sure how she expects me to get my car out.

Good luck everyone. May the snow stay away for the rest of the weekend!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Whoops, one last update:

"Referee Mike Jones will inspect the playing surface at St. Andrew's by no later than 12 noon today ahead of this afternoon's scheduled game against Newcastle United.

Blues ground staff have been working around the clock to ensure the pitch is playable and supporter sections of the stadium are being attended to by the club's maintenance team.

The pitch is soft and playable but heavy snow is now causing a concern as all work to clear areas in and around the stadium is being quickly undone by incessant snowfall."

Bet the ref isn't a fantasy player, why not check the pitch at 11:45!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. I now have no Tottenham or Blackpool players in my team. I need 100% sure starters coz I need to catch up in my league!
With 30 mins to deadline I feel it's too risky to gamble on them starting the match. Remember the last Blackpool postponed match, the ref called it off in the morning of the game.
This is just my opinion and is not based on insider knowledge nor scientific meteorological analyses.(The Met Office gets it wrong most days anyway!)
    Good luck
    Pauly

  52. So a basic summary so far...

Sat, Dec 18 Arsenal v Stoke

Currently snowing near stadium but no reports about any risk to the game going ahead

Sat, Dec 18 Birmingham v Newcastle

Heavy snow in the area overnight but very clear statement on club website about game going ahead...

    http://www.bcfc.com/page/News/NewsDetail/0,,10412~2247247,00.html

Sat, Dec 18 Blackburn v West Ham

Heavy snow but again clear statement on club website that the game will go ahead

    http://www.rovers.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10303~2247224,00.html

Sat, Dec 18 Wigan v Aston Villa

    CONFIRMED OFF

Sat, Dec 18 Liverpool v Fulham

    CONFIRMED OFF

Sat, Dec 18 Sunderland v Bolton

Due to start in an hour or so and no indication that they aren't ready to start as yet - Soccer AM in the UK will do a preview before 12 so worth noting that...

Sun, Dec 19 Chelsea v Man Utd
Difficult to predict but London is meant to continue snowing today and tonight. Lots of noise on Twitter about there being a chance of it going, but that doesn't mean much...

Sun, Dec 19 West Brom v Wolves

Nothing on the home page but lots of snow in the area, just depends what happens tonight!!

Sun, Dec 19 Blackpool v Tottenham

Big risk, lots of snow, no undersoil heating, but no mention of 60% anywhere I can find and nothing official announced...

Mon, Dec 20 Man City v Everton

Who knows about Monday - I think this given its an evening game there will be plenty chance for the game to go ahead and clear anything that does land...

  70. Arsenal v Stoke City
    Barclays Premier League
    Saturday 18th December 2010
Kick off: 3pm - Emirates Stadium

Like the many supporters coming to today’s Barclays Premier League match against Stoke City, the Club is closely monitoring the weather conditions.

At 11.30am on Saturday, the match is still on. However, weather conditions are still changing and the situation is being continually assessed by Club officials.

Saw this after the deadline, wish I'd have spread my risk out a bit more than I did. I wasn't expecting Arsenal to be in doubt
