Week 23 - My Team

Szczesny

  Bale   Heitinga   Kolarov

Bentley   Adam   Lampard  VdV

   Dzeko   Van Persie   Tevez

I'm fairly happy with my team this week. There are certainly doubts in there (Kolarov, Bentley & Dzeko) but I decided the roll the dice because if they play they could all score very well. I constantly seem to be stuck between 250th-350th in the standings so these risks are necessary if I'm to push on towards the Top 100.

Carson had been enabling a strong outfield 10, but once I decided I definitely didn't want the zero I brought in Szczesny as he'll continue in goal for Arsenal & faces a West Ham team with dead-man-walking manager, Obinna suspended & Parker a major doubt. To make this trade my original pick of Aurelio (who was a doubt anyway) had to be downgraded to the dirt cheap Heitinga & I had to keep Adam at discount instead of Brunt. That may not be a bad thing as next week is a double for Blackpool.

Speaking of the double, please remember when do your barndoor work that the following teams have two games in Week 24:

Blackpool (Sunderland, ManU)
Man Utd (Birmingham, @Blackpool)
Wigan (@Arsenal, AV)
Aston Villa (ManCity, @Wigan)
Liverpool (@Wolves, Fulham)
Fulham (Stoke, @Liverpool)

I'll leave it there! Please let me know what you ended up with, who's coming in on the barndoor...and good luck!

Cheers,
AM

(p.s. Big thanks to Hans for doing the Blog Team this week :)

  2. good luck all.
    i have ben foster
    crainey, zat night, marc wilson
van der vaart, cesc, barton, bentley
    van persie, tevez, leon best
i am going with some different players than everyone else. crainey and zat night are getting fantasy points regargless of clean sheet and wilson is now in the midfield.
barton is good for 9 or more every game and bentley is a long term pick.
i decided to go up to tevez from torres as i see more points from him. leon best was confirmed a starter, so i am rolling the dice on him, i am not expecting a hat trick

  3. I am totally surprise. It is first team with two City's strikers I have ever seen. I thought it would be impossible to get 2 playing city's forward as long as Mancini is in charge.
I have some second thoughts about Szczesny (in fact i'm Pole (as he is) + Arsenal fan).
I went with Stockdale and I would propably regret it as well :)

  4. Very similar team to you AM except I've gone for Carson, Kompany, Stam.

Is next week the Blog Cup for those of us fortunate enough to be in it?

  5. Dempsey for BD??? solid pts scorer...

  6. Many nice attacking options for the double week: Nani, Roon, Downing, Albrighton, Torres, Meireles, N'Zogbia, Watson, Rodallega, Adam, Dempsey, and more...

    I'm looking at:

    Carson
    Kola, Pantsil, Caldwell
    VDV, Nani, Downing, Adam
    Dzeko, Torres, Roda

Nani is VERY expensive, but a must for 2 games. Downing has a great average and has scored a few goals + will take some FKs. Adam has started to shoot more and get YFF points after a dip in form, and VDV for 6.xx stay. I like selfish Roda up front - lots of SOTs, but might swap him for N'Zog or Dempsey. Let's hope Torres finds his form for the double week. In defence - who cares! LOL Double game defenders never ever seem to score well for me, so may as well go cheap cheap.

  9. Hi, here is my team for this week

    Szczesny
    Pantsil Caldwell Jara
    VDV Bentley Brunt Lampard
    RVP Tevez Sturridge

With RVP+Tev, I can't afford dzeko so i put Sturridge instead

    ReplyDelete
  10. Szczesny
    Bosingwa Koscielny Cole
    Adam VDV Fabregas Lampard Bentley
    RVP Dzeko

Arse, Chel clean sheet would be nice.
Evra and Reina will probly come in for the DG.

    RVP Dzeko

  11. Al Habsi
    Kolarov Agger Zabaleta
    Nani VdV Lampard Nasri Albrighton
    VanPersie Sturridge

with the possible signing of Makoun and A.Young coming back, Albrighton might not start the 2 games.

  12. I feel pretty good this week. Lots of all-star players should score well.

    Szczesny/bale,kolarov,cathcart/vdv, lamps,adam,bentley,fab/caroll(5.96), RVP

I think dembele is a BD target for me for the double if he is back for FUL. Should score well and the opponents are not stellar.

    good luck this week!!

  13. AM, you have a very strong team there!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Rolling the dice a bit this week, too. Although I was fortunate enough to get Nani at 'only' 17.00. Let's just hope he plays through the double week, and doesn't get rested for one of the games.

I had been looking for a replacement for Koscielny in back, but then I overslept past the deadline this morning, so got stuck with him. (No, I'm not in the UK, I didn't sleep until noon! The deadline for me is 7AM)

    Ended up with:
    Hart
    Kol-Kos-Coleman
    VdV-Adam-Nani-Bentley-Brunt
    RvP-Dzeko

I sure hope Kolarov-Bently-Dzeko get playing time...

    Szczcszny
    Kolarov Bale Heitinga
    Lampard Adam Nani Bentley VdV
    RVP Dzeko

Dzeko and Kolarov "dice roll" as good as it can be so far with both starting!!

    Good luck everyone!!

    reina+ kelly or evra+carson.

will evra score big in 2 games than reina n kelly combined? hard to decide cause of liverpool poor form.

  19. by the way, just a thought - I know you do a large amount of work but it would be good if you would just note down the final blog team at the same time as posting yours? Just an idea, as I am always interested to know the team the group has voted!

  27. I had Ivanovic and at the last minute decided to drop him in favor of Kelly (liverpool) with the double in sight.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I keep picking lampard. Dropping lampard and nasri for the double week.

    ReplyDelete
  29. 141,5 with VDV to play, definitely best week this year :) gotta be very happy tonight

    ReplyDelete
  30. 122.5 with Bentley left...

    ReplyDelete
  31. 115.5 with VDV and Bentley to go. not yet my best week of the season (unless those two above do something special tomorrow), but I have moved up 388 places to 667th overall! My highest rank of the year so far! Quite surprised though with the jump, I wouldn't have thought it possible to move up that number of places being near the top 1000ranks

    ReplyDelete
  32. 77 with bale, vidic, bentley, vdv and torres left. very mediocre, very djemba-djemba.

    ReplyDelete
  33. 106 with Nani, VDV and Bentley left. Myhill the only buzzkill. I got rid of Odemwingie during his game. I doubt he'll do that again.

    ReplyDelete
  34. if we still have players for today games can we bring in players for the double alr?

    Nani VDV Lampard Bentley
    RVP Tevez Dzeko

    BD Team so far:

    Reina
    Kolarov GaryCaldwell Agger
    Nani VDV Albrighton Meireles
    Dzeko Torres Rooney

    ReplyDelete
  40. reina ? IMHO,i really can't take him since he give me -9 in 2 games..

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'll go with Reina if his price drops today.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Told you kolarov was going start alongside zabaleta, it's becoming easy to predict mancini.

    ReplyDelete
  43. How Aston villa hired Houllier I will never understand.Makoun? A squad player in ligue 1, when you have Albrighton downing Young etc..

    ReplyDelete
  44. hey guys mind to giv some ideas?

Meireles or N zogbia for next week?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Which keeper do yall BDing? I think I'll go for a DGer and its between Reina, Stockdale and Friedel.

Van der Saar is too expensive, Kingson plays ManU and is also expensive, and Al Habsi travels to Arsenal.

    ReplyDelete
  46. P.Robinson is just 5.54 playing westbrom, better than all double gamers imo.

    ReplyDelete
  47. which combo is better for double week.

reina n kelly or evra n carson?

do u all think evra will score more points than reina n kelly?

please need help b4 the prices change.

    ReplyDelete
  48. @ Anon 2.44pm

It's safer to go for kelly and reina..

Anybody can give me a suggestion whether i should go for duff or nzogbia?

    ReplyDelete
  49. thanka anon 3pm i think i will go with kelly n reina.

on your question about duff or nzogbia i picked nzogbia for my team he gets alot of points than duff .

    good luck.

    ReplyDelete
  50. plus nzogbia always give arsenal hard time n if he stay away from trouble.

    ReplyDelete
  51. torres's 5th yellow card?!
does that mean he'll missed the next match along with gerrard?

    ReplyDelete
  52. @Anon4:01
Torres will be suspended according to Yahoo's live commentary.

My question is should I swap Nasri@11.25 for Albrighton?

    -W.M.Wong

    ReplyDelete
  53. anyone have link to manU vs Spurs? live

    ReplyDelete
  54. Reina dropped to 5.6. FML i think thats enough to entice me to pick him again for the double week

    ReplyDelete
  55. vidic looks injured(hamstring) should i drop him for evra b4 they update?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Ahahaha Nani price rise this week. Yahoo, you're too funy

    ReplyDelete
  57. nzogbia, downing, charlie adam or dempsey, albrighton,(c ada or nzogbia)

which one is better for the double game n who should i keep between adam/nzogbia?

please help i have c adamon discounted price.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Torres shouldn't be suspended as the 5 YC rule only applies until january 1st. Seeing as it is now the 16th, the new suspension starts at 10 YC accumulated, so he should be fine to play.

    ReplyDelete
  59. @Anonymous 7:39pm: Keep Adam, hes the primary PK taker and Fk taker. Can't go wrong especially at discount. Can't say the same for NZog.

    ReplyDelete
  60. The decision to go with Nani over Tevez cost me reaching 100 points this week. Only 84 for the week. Hopefully Nani can redeem himself during the double week...

    ReplyDelete
  61. Hmm it's gonna be hard to decide with those DG in the upcoming week.. Think i'll load my team with all DGs, but dunno whether it's wise..

One good question (IMHO) to ask is who's gonna replace rafael's place in MU?

    -Cuy

    ReplyDelete
  62. i drop kolarov at 4.4 again as dropped bale and vdv last time at discount because of rumor that they will not start. i always won't take risk in player who may not start. but because of this, i lost so many! don't like this feeling!

    travor J

    ReplyDelete
  63. Kolarov was dropped because of a slight injury though it wasn't in the news, try not to listen to rumours so much. It was annoying to even hear people calling Kolarov a bad player. There are players i don't like but i wont come here to convince people to drop them.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Ended week 23 with a satisfying 117 points.

    My current week24 lineup:
    stockdale*
    kolarov, walker*, spector (filler)
    vdv, adam*, meireles*, nani*,
    rvp, johnson*, taylor-fletcher*

still holding torres, dzeko, bosingwa, caldwell, carson behind the scene.
Not sure about torres, some say he's banned, some say not. Is there a concrete answer here?

    ReplyDelete
  65. 97.5, was hoping to get a 100pts but Nani VdV Agger and Albrighton could only give me 20.5 thanks mostly to Albrighton's 12.

    wk24 atm

    Reina
    Kolarov Kelly Stam
    Nani VdV Albrighton N'zogbia
    Rooney Berbatov Dj Campbell

    ReplyDelete
  66. I'm still holding Van Persie in place of Berbatov but i'm thinking Berbatov over 2 legs will be better that Van Persie. Any thoughts on this? I know it's early but...

  70. @Blue Blooded...

I just went Albrighton --> Bent assuming paperwork is all finalized (which it should be).

    ReplyDelete
  71. @Josh- i'm with you on that, Albrighton will probably lose his place to Bent, but i think Albrighton is the best crosser of the ball. Since i'm not the manager i'll just play it safe.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Albrighton was always going to score well with successful crosses and corners won but Bent will score poorly against Citeh. I wasn't fooled by the Bentley move and i'm sure i wont pick Bent also. It's either A. Young and Downing for me.

    ReplyDelete
  73. 10 matches between Wigan and Villa, there have been 6 away wins and just 1 home win. So, i'll avoid Wigan players seeing they're away to Arsenal first.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I think it's unwise to make any further transfers because a lot of players will be switching clubs before the weekend.
