So why am I holding onto Kolarov if it seems he's lost his starting spot? Or has he?

  7. 8 out of 11 same as AM, with 7 potential DGs. Differences are RvP/Joe Cole/Varney instead of VdV/Adam/Ameobi.

Kolarov losing his starting spot or consistently being subbed ~60 mins would mean a major re-think for my side.

    VDV,Nasri,Gerrard,Adam,Joe Cole
    Varney,Torres
Eight double-gamers: VDV and Nasri are at heavy discount. After a terrible December I've gone from 1600 to 6700-ish so I need to go all out.

Barn-doored the Fulham keeper and Hernandez. Wouldn't be too surprised if the latter kept Rooney out long term.

    Kolorov, Skrtel, Cairney

I went for something slightly different in the end.
I thought everyone would have Gerrard and Torres and so i took a gamble (MASSIVE GAMBLE) and hope Drogba and Hernandez helps extend my lead at the top of my friends league.

    Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  23. I ended up switching at the last minute to Nani/Cathcart from Gerrard/G. Johnson. Like someone said previously, I just don't trust Liverpool. The move to Nani seems to have paid off so far as he scored big. Only three double gamers now though. The two Blackpool players - Adam and Cathcart - already returned their value for the week.

    Hart
    Kolarov, Coleman, Cathcart
    VDV, Nani, Lampard, Adam
    Balotelli, Van Persie, Torres

I'm really unsure how to handle Balotelli going forward. Will he start with Dzeko on board? I want to keep him with the discount, but will have to make a decision fairly soon. Can't just keep taking a 0 like this week.

Good start with 41.5 after the first three players (2 of which have another game).

  24. I ended up with

    Stockdale
    Bale Skrtel Crainey
    VDV Adam Gerrard Phillips
    Varney DJ Campbell Ngog

8 possible DGs. Took a huge risk on more Blackpool players rather than Liverpool players. I just don't really trust Liverpool away. Also took risk on Ngog. It's either Ngog and DJ Campbell, or Etuhu and Torres. Had a bad feeling about Torres so went with Ngog and DJ Campbell.

  25. Hi, I don't usually comment on the blog, but I have been following since Nik(AM) started it last year. It has inspired me to create my own blog for the yahoo fantasy golf game, and I am looking forward to the challenge of building it into the community/forum that Nik and everyone else who visits have today. I would like to thank Nik and everyone else for elevating my fantasy epl team, and hope that you will check out my blog if you enjoy golf and the pga tour. It definitely won't be filled with the same up to date news and information from me that Nik is able to provide, but I'm hoping that eventually the growth of the site will provide for that itself. Thanks again and here's a link to my site:

So far only Adam and Varney have played, giving me 16.5 points. Only have 4 DG as I could not drop my discounts in many players. Gutted that I missed Nani on the BD. He is now 22 units! Wow! That almost certainly means he is never going to make my team next week.

  28. I'm not happy with my team, but I had to remake it for the double week within the 15 free minutes at my hotel during my last full day in London. I finished with 3 seconds to spare:

    Reina
    Kolarov Aurelio Crainey
    VdV Silva Lampard Phillips Gerrard
    Torres Varney

I actually did pretty well the previous two gameweeks despite not being able to BD or make changes. Perhaps I should refrain from managing my team more often. Before leaving, I tried to pick a team that could be good for 3 rounds if necessary, and it did pretty well despite winding up with a few suspended or rested players.

I got to see QPR vs. Bristol City on Monday, which was a lot of fun despite the Rs giving up an equalizer in stoppage time. Also cool to see David James in goal for the Robins.

  43. premier league makes absolutely no sense anymore :). Reina horror...worst thing is, it can get worse

  44. My b/d picks right now:

Boateng (Zabaleta out for three matches and Kolarov playing like crap)

David Silva (Should be back in two weeks time against Wolves.)

RvP (Arsenal playing against West Ham and he's getting better.)

Leon Best (three goals today and he costs 5.13. If Carrol is out in two weeks time he'll start and at this price he doesn't have to do much to return his value. You could also get Lovenbrands but he's more expensive and away at Sunderland seems like an expensive experiment.)

With my current team I have almost 10 points in the bank I can use to either upgrade Silva or get Carrol if he's back from injury.

Bale left the game early today in a loss to Everton but I hope it's nothing serious.

    ReplyDelete
  45. bet you're all glad you loaded up on Liverpool players aren't you? LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  46. No need to bd Boateng because his price will fall, and Kolarov should be back for next match. boateng is actually Citeh's worst defender.

    ReplyDelete
  47. @ Birty: I didn't for that exact reason. Gerrard scored a goal but missed a PK. Wonder what the total for him would be today.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Benjani bagged 2 today and he's a little over 2. Should be a good pick up for the Chelsea match?

    ReplyDelete
  49. I think Hodgson will be fired after this game. May not be a bad idea to hold on to Liverpool players as new coach usually brings wins in their first a few games. what do you guys think?

    ReplyDelete
  50. Who is this Leon Best kid???? And why did top-form liverpool fall so hard? And glad I dumped Green!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Leon Best is no kid, he's 24 and has played a few international games for Ireland. Hughton bought him this time last year in the championship but due to the immergence of Carroll didn't get too many chances to play. BD him by all means but don't expect him to be a regular starter- Ameobi and Carroll still first choice I'd think. Great performance today though.

So, next week: Varney will get 10 SoT and Reina will save them all. Boom, 50pts.

    ReplyDelete
  52. 92 with seven to play (again). Probably a mediocre score, but I am going to post it. Thankfully, I kept Hart. BD'd Best (just for fun) and Coleman and Tevez.

    ReplyDelete
  53. A very disappointing -9 for Reina and all liverpool's player... I wonder what does Green have?

  56. another crappy week earn crappy 40.5 craps, 3 zeros from 3 manshitty craps. oh boy this game is much much easier when ronaldo was arround.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Mind boggling midweek as West Ham leapfrogged to 16th from bottom and back to the bottom again in a space of less than 5 days.

Agreed, the worse of all is Liverpool season will get even worse, wasteful Torres

    ReplyDelete
  58. I'll be honest and say I was really scared for a bit. After being almost the entire season inside the top 500 (at the very least) I dropped in the weekend to 720th and to 892nd on Tuesday. "The entire season is ruined!" I shouted. Well, it's not, at least not yet.
103.5 points with Gerrard, Torres, Skrtel and Adam to go, though I won't care if the game is postponed as I know many players have much more DGers than I do, and I want to at least keep my 381st spot for now. I guess the 90 points I got last night (only Adam playing for me on Tuesday) were a relatively big score, as the climb of more than 500 places indicates.
Who made this week for me? Well, Adam returned to his best and I'm actually sad I dropped him right after the deadline and didn't wait to see how he does. VDV was excellent as always, Knight surprised me with 10 points without a CS, Barton contributed his value and Elmander returned 13.5. But the one who made this week so special is, no doubt, Harper. It was great the my gut feeling was finally right, and not going with Reina really gave me a huge advantage (difference of 25.5 points!).
Kolarov was again a no-show but he should start regularly again when ManCity play only once a week, Lampard was again disappointing. Gerrard, Skrtel and Torres all didn't return their values, but everyone has them anyway and they still have a chance next week.

Only two things I'm angry about:

Barton - Yes, he returned his value. Yes, he was as solid as ever in fantasy and in real football. Yes, there's no doubt I'm keeping him for the long run @9.58mil. But come on! Your team practically destroys another team and all you can get is a lousy assist and 5 phantom points? It could have been so much better for me.

ESPN stats - That was cruel. I've been keeping Elmander for a while now below 10mil, and when his game was ended the stats at Soccernet show he had 1 SoT. 1. So I've decided I was tired of him and dropped him for Saha, whom I don't intend to keep anyway. And then I wake up this morning and discover he actaully achieved 3 SoTs, and fantastic 13.5 points! Maybe it was time to drop him anyway, with Bolton a bit fading now, but he has strong match-ups in the near future and I would've liked to know his real stats just to make a more informed decision...

    My BD team:

    Al-Habsi
    Kolarov Bosingwa Djourou Coleman
    VDV Barton Lampard Gerrard
    RvP Saha

Not final at all. VDV, Barton and Kolarov obviously stay, and I intend to keep RvP, Djourou and Al-Habsi as well. I doubt I'll keep Bosingwa, but Coleman could stay as he's been improving lately. Saha should be dropped (his price hasn't jumped much anyway). I want to fit in Malouda and Dzeko (I guess he'll be 6.40), but I still need to decide if I drop Gerrard or Lampard. Both play for teams in bad form, both with not-that-easy home matches, both not at great discounts, but Lampard is performing much worse than Gerrard so I might seperate myself from the crowd and get Malouda instead of Lampard (not sure, though, as it will be easier to do with Gerrard being dropped as he's taking more funds). If anyone has a take about this dilemma I would be delighted to read it.

Sorry for the long post, have a great week-and-a-half!

    SF

  59. How did you pick players for Arsenal v Man City? Unless you had them at huge discounts, have yourself to blame. Lost my discounts on Van Persie, Balotelli and Nasri but i don't mind. Picked all three again, that's about 12units lost.

  69. Reina absol joke. i've said for ages he's the most over-rated keeper around. good but not great but currently just poor !. 4 shots faced, 3 let in. his goals against/saves ratio is 27/48=0.56. even rob green is only on 37/80=0.46. i.e a full 10% better. foster has made 99 saves in 20 games . reina has made 48 saves in 20 games, and somehow managed to let more goals in ! ( proving its not about having of a bad defence in front of him ).
carson is unbuyable even at 1.00. his saves ratio is 39/53=0.74 i.e 20% worse than reina. surely he's got to be dropped. friedel is having a bad run too- a saves ratio of 0.60. he's cheaper than he's ever been but a real risk but more useable than some as they are getting their experienced players back.

gomes was impressive last nite. 7 saves & returning his average,7 , despite a loss. definitely in top 5 keepers in the lge. even though he's made a few gaffs, his saves ratio is still good at 0.30.

@ S.P - thanks for the great analysis on the keepers. I've stuck with Howard for the past 4 weeks who has been ok - at best!

Anyone know the latest on Kolarov's absence?

    ReplyDelete
  73. Anyone else running Stockdale in goal? Got a hunch on this one... but then again..

    ReplyDelete
  74. As far as goalies go, I've stuck with Hart for the past 7 weeks. A total of 70.5 points for 7 weeks, which is great considering the previous 15 weeks I managed a total of only 56 points. And, thanks to his one bad week, his price dropped and I have him at 9.00.

I'm really stumped now what to do about Kolarov. He came back and did well at first, then he has a crap game against Blackpool and they drop him not only from the starters, but even from the bench? Now I don't know what to do...have him at 4.43, and don't want to lose the discount. I hope he comes back.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Massive dilemma for week 23. So far I have:

    Reina
    Kolarov, Zuiverloon, Squillaci
    VdV, Lampard, Brunt, Adam, Nasri
    RvP, Balotelli

Defense will obviously be changed more, and probably a better keeper too (Foster?) but my real dilemma is midfield. Wouldnt mind Silva, or maybe Bentley who is 7.73 and moving to BRM (v a useless Villa.) Who do I drop? Lamps aint back to best but is v Blackburn, Adam and Brunt are both playing each other = easy matchup for either and Nasri also easy matchup. VdV is staying! Who to drop? Or keep all the mids?
