Join The Blog Leagues!

AM Blog League One Two Three Four Five Six Seven Eight is open for business! THIS IS THE FINAL BLOG LEAGUE!!!

Apologies for those who wanted to be in the one of the first 7 leagues - no matter what time I put the leagues up it will be unsuitable to some time-zones in the world, and I also didn't expect them to fill up so quickly.

Unfortunately my main team can only be in the first 3 leagues as I'm already in my own private league + Jeremy & Neal's private league, which = 5 (maximum). The 5 blog leagues that follow will be on my 2nd Yahoo ID, meaning you won't get to challenge my team directly, but you'll get a place in the Cup competitions.

The team I'll be running in leagues 4 to 8 will be AM Blog Team [AM.Blog], which is the team I want us to pick as a group each week via discussions in the chat room on Friday nights/Saturday mornings. More on that later...

AM Blog League 1

Be quick, and PLEASE don't join more than one league, even if you have multiple teams, as it's unfair on others (Tekno, I'm looking at you!). Once League 8 is full I'll check for duplicate teams and remove any naughty people, but it will be the FINAL LEAGUE.

One other thing...some people have suggested adding [AM.Blog] after their team name to follow the likes of the excellent www.Starting11.com (S11) and the mysterious HKBFF.NET (hkbff.net), so we can identify reader's teams on the leaderboard. Sounds like a great idea to me, so I'll be following suit with the team name AM FC [AM.Blog]

Cheers,
AM

  1. Wow, 25 teams in Blog League 1 already, only 10 minutes from first announcing it on Facebook!

  2. will this work out still if i am going to join neal and jeremy's too?

    ReplyDelete
  3. Yes, the 2 are separate Lucidwirl, but you can only join a maximum of 5 private leagues on 1 Yahoo ID.

    ReplyDelete
  4. HAHA! ;D

    Sure. =)

I'm going to join the 7th Blog League. =D

    ReplyDelete
  5. I'm in at #51.

Zigic is the first week bargain.

    ReplyDelete
  6. so how exactly do you change your team name again?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Under the Home button - edit my team settings

    ReplyDelete
  8. Made it into the first group...#88. Going fast!

    ReplyDelete
  9. already full. wow that went fast. didn't make it in to the first one

    ReplyDelete
  10. Anyone know which point allocations have changed, can't recall the GK getting win/draw bonus and -2 for loss.
Hopefully someone has a better memory than me.

    ReplyDelete
  11. we need another group AM

    ReplyDelete
  12. Blog League 2 details above!

Ian - Point scoring is exactly the same as far I can tell, see last seasons post on 27th July 2009 re: scoring

  13. Giovanni Dos Santos just scored for Tottenham, Crouch assist. Hummm, would be interesting to see if Rednapp has big plans for him this season, he had a great world cup but with Tottenham's squad I don't know if there's a place for him. What do you Spurs fans think?

    ReplyDelete
  14. ...but then again I don't see Dos Santos in the Tottenham roster. Where is he?

    ReplyDelete
  15. and Bale is playing like the BEAST he was last season.

    ReplyDelete
  16. @Saul - I'm not a spurs fan, but I think you're right, doubt there's a place for him with Lennon, Bale, Kranjcar, Modric & Bentley(even though he's injured atm) to compete with. and he's not in the YFF game

    ReplyDelete
  17. maybe Gio is going out on loan again, or for sale

    ReplyDelete
  18. Not to mention Palacios, O'Hara, THudd, Jenas and even D. Rose but I think there's a possibility to play Dos Santos as a forward though.

    ReplyDelete
  19. then he's competing with Defoe, Crouch, Pav, & possibly Keane if he stays. I'm just not sure he's really cut out for the premier league (yet) even if he does get some starts

    ReplyDelete
  20. I think Spurs have an exellent team. young, experienced and skilled. Midfield is top notch, even the bench is good. Hell even the forwards in Defoe, Pavy, Crouch, Keane and 1 more...they must get 1 more killer finisher and i think he should be Fabiano.

    ReplyDelete
  21. @AM - I have 2 separate accounts and without thinking I joined "AM Blog League 1" with one, and "AM Blog League 2" with another. Is there any way you can delete my second team on "AM Blog League 2" so that others have a chance to join? Thanks and I apologize for not thinking of others. I'm under "Catrachos Locos", if you know a way I can cancel myself out of the league please let me know. Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  22. the Dreamteam is up in league 20!
That was damn fast AM, the first league filled up faster than a Spanish waiter out of Liverpool...

    Pauly

    ReplyDelete
  23. No worries Saul, I've removed your 2nd team!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Just noticed that Owen Hargreaves is down as injured with "no return date" on the PhysioRoom.com site
That's something of a surprise as he actually came on in the last game of last season for 10 mins.
Hopefully he'll get another 10 mins this season too.
I'm beginning to feel sorry for the guy

  25. Is anyone else finding it difficult to get a decent all round team?

    LC (FC Hebrew Latino)

    ReplyDelete
  26. AM, I hope you don't mind this...

I created a La Liga for folks here to join if anyone wants too, I guess it can be the "official" La Liga league if no one (AM?) objects.

    ID: 371
    PW: yahoo

    http://uk.superliga.fantasysports.yahoo.com/football

Maybe we can get a number going there too, just for fun.

    ReplyDelete
  27. just to make things a little cleaner. should us readers/commentors put [YFF.AM] after our names or [AM.blog]? I've seen both and it's a little confusing. I thought maybe we should have a universal one.

    ReplyDelete
  28. mark i am joining the spanish league right now.

anyone know who will start in alex's spot for chelsea? i have bale, but would rather go down, then i could go up from rodellega.

    ReplyDelete
  29. @Bean: Is the Twolight Zone back up? And if so whats the pass and group id?

Also is there some one making the AM Blog regulars group again?

    Thanks guys

    ReplyDelete
  30. mark hughes is a great signing for fulham. he does great with midtable teams. he does better than with all of the billionaires. i don't see a let off with him coming in. he has just been playing 4-3-3. that will be very difficult with fulham's squad.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Created a fantasy EPL on espn. Group name is "Dboys", and it doesn't require a password.
ESPN fantasy is more complex than YFF. The rules are similar to that of the previous world cup.

    ReplyDelete
  32. @Kellz - found your email from last year, hopefully you're still using that one. I just emailed you the id and passwd. let me know if you don't get it. cheers.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Excellent, thanks for setting up the leagues, AM!

I'm in league 2 as Eintracht Glasgow. I may also create another team, Red Star Clydebank, if my work's private league happens again this season.

However, I won't sign RSC up for any league here in order that other teams can sign up.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Excellent stuff AM. I reckon you might have to set up another 20 leagues though!

I've only been looking for about an hour, but all these new signings makes it very easy to pick a heavyweight team...

    Irons.

    ReplyDelete
  35. @bean - can I get in on the AM Blog regulars group? My e-mail is smunguia1984@gmail.com if you can send me the user/password. If not possible, thanks anyways mate.

    ReplyDelete
  36. @Irons - very easy to pick a heavyweight team? really?

    ReplyDelete
  37. @Saul - i sent Kellz info for a group called Twilight Zone, I'm not the one setting up AM Blog Regulars, though i would be happy to if no one else is...

    ReplyDelete
  38. @greginho:

Thanks for joining. If you know anyone else who wants to play, send them word. I'm hoping we can get some more people in the league (and hopefully Serie A/Ligue 1) so we can run some Cups there too.

Anyone is welcome to join up. Info the La Liga blog league is a few comments up.

    ReplyDelete
  39. @bean - not heavyweight all round granted. At the moment though my heavyweights are:

Bale, Koscielny, Hitz, Silva, Lamps, Drogba, Chamakh, Jovanovic(?!).

Kirk, Rafael, Nolan being the fillers..

    Irons

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'm in too Mark although I'm not too familiar with La Liga players but it shall be interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  41. There's a few more good 'uns as well, J. Boateng being one.

    Irons

    ReplyDelete
  42. Bean - I'd be interested in joining Twilight Zone if there's still room or no bother. Would make the game more fun to have more competition.

    ReplyDelete
  43. i don't know what time is it at your place.. but it's 9am here in Malaysia.. and the second yff blog league is already full.. :(.. please AM create the third league, i haven't join any..

    Maxer

    ReplyDelete
  44. hahaha Maxer. it appears to be 2 am in England so you'll have to wait a few hours, poor AM's gotta rest you know lol.

    ReplyDelete
  45. haha.. yeah saul.. AM is working while i'm sleeping.. :p.. nvm, i will wait.. he's still gonna have 6 league to join btw.. :).. anyway, how your team doing atm?..

    Maxer

    ReplyDelete
  46. @Maxer - It's too confusing to deal with atm so I'm just gonna wait till the first game gets closer to have a better idea, too complicated to guess starters right now. So far only sure players to stay are Tevez, Bale, and maybe Nani but we'll see.

    ReplyDelete
  47. nooooo, both leagues are full :(((

    Calucifer.

    ReplyDelete
  48. @Saul:

That's cool. La Liga isn't my strongest game, usually do poorer there compared to the rest, although still seems decent enough overall.

After the season I found the site below. It is a blog dedicated to the La Liga game. I think many of the followers do very well overall from what I gathered. It is in Spanish though. However they seem to do what AM and Neal/Jeremy do for the EPL game. I'm in their EPL league too and joined a La Liga group of theirs, already rapidly filling up there, like the EPL leagues here!

It might be useful for reference, I plan on checking it out this year, worth a shot. Can't make me do any worse (hope not anyway!)

  51. Sucks for me to be living in a different time zone (in Asia). I've been checking this site daily for the last year and I 've wanted to join League 1 all this time but missed it because I was asleep =(

I really don't mean to bitch because AM's been doing a great job but I wish there had been some sort of advanced notice re. when the League details would be announced or perhaps there would be some sort of "pre-joining" lists whereby users won't get shafted just because they missed the post by a couple hours =/

Anyway, cheers to those who made the first two groups so far. I will keep a lookout for the other groups.

    ReplyDelete
