---------------------------------
These were correct as of yesterday evening according to The Times newspaper. Not sure if this is helpful, I imagine we'll get more definitive news later today as they will want to give fans 24 hours notice...I'll keep you all updated.

UPDATE: We've lost 4 games now & we can't be sure on any of the others...it's making life hell for fantasy managers...i'm tempted to go for all Chelsea players if he game at Hull is on as it's only 45 mins after deadline...

Cheers,
AM

  2. good report. we have to approach this week, that some pt's are better than none. i have d bent but don't fancy that game to go ahead. i think at least 3 games will get cancelled. just gotta hope they are cancelled early enough. might be an idea to spread risk, but also avoid the 4 most likely games to go. S.P.

    ReplyDelete
  3. lets hope global warming finally kicks in and proves its worth!

    ReplyDelete
  4. So all of them are high risk, basically. Its got to be a case of picking 90% of your players for games on saturday when youll know my 12 if theyve been cancelled. Im only gonna gamble on players I have at a discount (Mpet, defoe)...and maybe not even them

  5. thanks, AM. Atleast this post is helpful

  11. burnley v stoke also OFF ! s.p .

    ReplyDelete
  12. @Brandon - its not that bad, nothing compared to places in canada or scandinavia. The problem in Britain is that it only happens anything like this once every 4 years or so, and so the countries not really prepared for it with proper snow gear etc.

  14. Guys, I have NO IDEA what to do with Eagles, whom I have @6.22!!! I really need some help. I will most probably keep him, considering the fact that I may replace him with someone who will play for sure(?!), but then on last minute that game is postponed too. That would KILL me!!!

    Any suggestion!!!

    Good Luck

    ReplyDelete
  15. Sunderland off, IMO almost if not all games will be off, Birmingham will be next as they have scheduled a pitch inspection and with the worst frosts expected tonight and snow sunday I think the premier league will call the shots as clubs really dont want them to go ahead as they will result in low attendances/revenue.

My advice, hold all players as late as possible as it maybe a 'non week' or even worse, just one match that we all pour our money on!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Liverpool cancel 2 days before!? what price on Gerrard taking a knock in training yesterday?

    ReplyDelete
  17. i was 'burnt' last week with the no-go arsenal game; can't afford to miss any more players to weather now. all those in postponed games got to GO! hopefully there are alot v-managers without the knowledge of the postponement and let me get back to where i am supposed to be.

    ReplyDelete
  18. This has also just made my descision regarding what to do with O'hara, who I've got at 4.07, a lot more difficult. Think I'll probably keep him.

    Any ideas?

    ReplyDelete
  19. What is the likelihood of Man City getting to play on Monday? Are things supposed to be worse or better by then?

    Yeah

    ReplyDelete
  23. To AM: you may wish to take note that Arsenal's Ladies and youth games were already postponed.(some other youth games too). i take those as a warning sign.

    ReplyDelete
  24. At this point postponing the whole round would be better. Otherwise we'll all be faced with having to give up most of our player discounts. Ouch.

If this keeps up, Bolton will wind up with half their season in hand.

    ReplyDelete
  25. ^ i don't mind selling most(actually all except Verm). lol. i already sold 5 due to the 3+1 weather issue. i hope by tml, there will be just one game left(whatever that maybe), and i just push all players in that fixture. that would certainly shake things up( in epl and my private league). time for me to gain back the 'lost' points of last arsenal game.

  30. Thanks for posting the updates AM. My team is in flux with Modric, Defoe, O'Hara already being ruled out on big discounts. Losing a 0.15 discount on Bale doesn't matter much, but I'd have to revamp my team and find another cheap filler if I switch him out. At this point, I think Modric is the only player I will definitely keep and take the 0 points, losing a 2.23 discount is too big of a change on him.

    ReplyDelete
  34. ^ just watch the main post.AM been doing it. and we've been updating as much info to all fellow v-managers as possible on the situation around. its not easy for all i think, most would need to shuffle the team lineups and there are potential risk every other match will be postponed if the local authorities deemed it necessary. additional news in next post.

  35. The postponement of Saturday's Championship fixtures between Middlesbrough and Swansea at the Riverside and QPR and Plymouth at Loftus Road mean there are only four fixtures remaining in English football's second tier.
The games at Leeds and Norwich are the only surviving League One fixtures, while the decision to call off Northampton's meeting with Chesterfield means there are no games in League Two.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yeah, Wigan - Villa very likely to be played, I just hope Chelsea game does not get postponed

    ReplyDelete
  39. Oh wow, that's a bad week. The thing that I fear the most is that these games will be postponed for the mid-week, so I won't have any of the players from them. I sold Etherington, Bale, Baird and Duff (only the last on a discount) due to the cancelled matches, and I've already dropped O'Hara last week when I had him on 5.75mil. If what's expected is going to happen, O'Hara won't play even a single game in Pompey for the rest of the season, because his loan deadline is on next Friday.
The dropping of bale hurt the most, I had to make major cuts in my team including dropping Milijas whom I really liked, for Cole. Joe Cole. You know, the one from Chelsea who NEVER scores YFF points? He'll start, obviously, and his very cheap, although his price's symbolism isn't attractive (6.66mil). I also got back Nasri who have been very productive for me this week, but 4mil more expensive. Another buy was Milner who is back for Villa against Wigan (yay) on a match which is in doubt (boo!). The back-up plan is dropping him for Diaby, Malouda or Milijas if the game is postponed, so I can improve my defence. Why? Evans and Traore. Both cheap and will deserve points if they get a CS, but if they don't...
Eduardo is on a good run, with plenty of help from Lady Luck, but that has never hurt anyone. Sturridge is cheap and will at least come from the bench, Petrov is on discount and can kill B'burn. Given and Vermaelen are obvious, though I'm afraid from a late postponement of the ManC match, which will take Petrov and Given's points away from me. Rooney is the last one. He didn't look sharp against Leeds, but the good thing about him to take from that match is that EVERYTHING went through him, and it's about to continue vs Brum.
Concerning the defence, I might drop Nasri for the in-form Diaby, so I can swap Evans with Richards, or Traore with Zabaleta, but I'm still afraid of the late postponements. If I do drop Milner, I might be able to afford a defence of Vermaelen-Richards-Upson, but I won't drop him unless the Villa match is postponed.
    Not final team:

    Given
    Vermaelen Evans Traore
    Petrov Milner Nasri JCole
    Rooney Eduardo Sturridge

    Any advices?

  41. Aaaaaargh, Hull-Chelsea postponed. If Man City game gets postponed, my team is screwed again :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. it's kind of like polishing a cannon ball shuffling the team around at this point, but worth a try.

    Hull vs Chelsea – POSTPONED
    Burnley vs Stoke – POSTPONED
    Fulham vs Portsmouth – POSTPONED
    Sunderland vs Bolton – POSTPONED
    Liverpool vs Spurs – POSTPONED

    which leaves:

    Arsenal vs Everton
    Wigan vs Aston Villa
    Birmingham vs Manchester United
    West Ham vs Wolves
    Manchester City vs Blackburn

    right now i have:

    Given
    Verm,Evans,Garrido
    Valencia,Collison,Rosicky,Bily
    Rooney,Tevez,J.Vaughan

kind of worried about the Citeh match on monday though, might swap those out for Villa or more Gunners.

and this is all quite futile as more postponements might come today/tonight

    ReplyDelete
  43. A lot of teams will sure look similar this week LOL....

    ReplyDelete
  44. @Bean: There goes most of my barndoor work over the long week. No Bale, no Dempsey, no Eagles, and West Ham is on the brink of postponed as well meaning Arsenal will likely fall. The biggest question is who do you keep at discount and who do you gut for players your really didn't want to buy in the first place?

Oh boy, its actually quite comical, but damn I really loved my team!

    ReplyDelete
  45. in fact, i would now change ONLY to players from West Ham and Man city's games. they MAY have a chance of playing. i still have arsenal players thou mind you. but i am not that optimistic now. this is the season to chip/chop/mix/match and not really following anyone.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Guys

Do you have any idea when these games will be rearranged? Is there a chance that they could be arranged, say, the Wednesday after the game or something?

    init

    ReplyDelete
  47. it must fit their schedule. some have cup games as well. some already have postponed games to be rearranged. and there are euro games for some clubs too. its best to check their own individual club pages frequently. they are (likely) the first to announce the re scheduled games.

    ReplyDelete
  48. just 10 team will go on in this week!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I would recommend holding on to your entire team until the last possible minute before making changes and losing discounts. Who knows, all the games this weekend might be canceled at this rate.

    -Neal

    ReplyDelete
  50. Neal is right. Hold, for now. That said, I think it adds a bit of excitement to the weekly affair. Tactical moves this week could be critical for those of us behind. It's easy to build a team of superstars. It is genius to build a team of one-week wonders under said circumstances. Good luck, one and all! (Donegal08)

    ReplyDelete
  51. If nothing else, this weekend's fiasco will really punish any managers not paying close attention -- at least those outside the UK. Presumably everyone living there can't help but notice something's amiss.

    ReplyDelete
  52. wigan v villa virtually off now as undersoil heating fails- see official wigan fc website.
that was 1 game i didn't think would go ahead anyway, after the recent cancellation v bolton. S.P.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Not quite. Wigan's website said they've scheduled an 8:30 AM pitch inspection and will announce the results immediately thereafter. Before failing, the undersoil heating equipment had been on since the postponed Bolton match, so this match going ahead hinges on the severity of tonight's frost and/or the ability of the engineers to fix the problem. But yes, they do use the phrase "in serious doubt":

i live about 10 miles from wigan. forecast is about -10c over nite. conditions are definitely worse than when the bolton game got called off. that game was an eve k.o. but it did get called off early in the day. must be only 5% chance ,if that , that it goes ahead. S.P.

    ReplyDelete
  64. alot of people are doing the hold-on-to-several-players-at-hugh-discount and these sort of week is going to hurt as they can't really ditch those players[duh!] while frequent 'choppers' can change things around quickly to suit the fixtures[i.e. available ones] . this could be really critical through this period of time.

  69. Taking a huge gamble, but its a very unusual week with all the postponements, so its the right week for a gamble:

    Almunia
    Verm, Sylvinho, Salgado
    Arshavin, Giggs, MPET, Ramsey, Nasri
    Rooney, Tevez

for what its worth I am relatively happy, had Collison but if Arsenal game is on Ramsey has just as much of a chance to score pts as him so it was an easy switch. I think Arshavin is a risk given his recent performances, but rarely does a player of his calibure go many games without a goal, hoping this will be the turn around!

Good luck, alarm set to check reports before the deadline!

Also, anyone worth picking for the Birmingham/Man U game except Rooney? Rooney is too expensive as I did not get him in the BD.
