City Game Is On

Manchester City vs Blackburn is on. Terrible news for me, great news for those of you who held on to Given/Zabaleta/Petrov/Tevez etc...

http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Club-news/2010/January/Tonights-game-goes-ahead

The club is delighted to announce that tonight’s Premier League fixture with Blackburn Rovers will go ahead.

The club has received praise from all quarters for the tireless work that has taken place - day and night - over the weekend to ensure all areas and major walkways around the ground are free of ice and snow.

Following a meeting with the city council, the police and club officials this morning, the green light has now been given to play the game, and only a serious deterioration in the weather conditions in the next few hours will put the game at risk.

East Car Park will remain closed for this evening and several local accredited external car parks are likely to remain shut. We will keep you updated as to which of these will not be in use.

I'm extremely worried...with all the news on Saturday morning regarding the weather it was the sensible choice to stick with Saturday players, so my team containing Given, Petrov & Tevez was changed to a team containing Almunia, Diaby & Benitez.

It could now backfire horrendously - with no players remaining I need to pray that tonight is a 1-1 draw (both own goals) or I'll find myself plummeting down the rankings.

Cheers,
AM

  2. What can I say then: Go Blackburn!!! 1:1 we need

  3. I am very disappointed as well as I sold Petrov (bought in BD for less than $10) to buy Diamanti!

However, I still kept Given in my squad as a season keeper anyway. Hopefully he will save 10 penalties but w/o clean sheets, so the owners of Zab will be screwed. LOL

  4. i fill a little twisted about the man city game. i dropped tevez for jerome to limit the players from this game and did well with that choice, but i am afraid that tevez will go off. wish i had dropped diamanti for jerome.
i have nelsen and petrov. so i want 4 SOT'S from petrov and lots of crosses in a 5-0 win for blackburn

  10. none of you need to worry about Tevez - I have bought him (after dropping him prior to his recent run of huge points). So far this season this act has instantly destroyed any strikers good run. (see Bent, Rooney, Adebayor,Diamanti) Ill let you know when I drop him so you can get the massive week he will have (see Defoe, Tevez).

  11. anonymous then tell us who you are picking up next, please!

  12. result! I held on to tevez in the hope that this game would go ahead.

i'm on 46.5 this week so far (with only tevez left) and have moved up somewhere in the region of 1700 places! (to around 5000th! I was 2500th or thereabouts a few weeks ago, but that 'triple' week screwed me. i had arsh who was rubbish, zamora who got an average of like 4.5 a game and then lots of arsenal players who never played their 3rd game!)

i'm hoping tevez puts up 20 points or so, a goal and a few shots would do, and i would happy with around 70-75 for the week

  13. yayyy luckily i still keep tevez/given/givet/nelsen

hope this 4 guys could produce some points

  14. Can anyone say "Holy Crap"? I had Tevez, Given and was considering Bellamy for this game but only ended up with Given due to weather conditions. Oh well, Good luck to all who stuck with City players and were fortunate the game didn't get cancelled. Anyway's I'll be looking to BD Dunn(he seems to be healthy again), Tevez, Bellamy.

  15. D'oh! I had a bad, bad feeling when I dropped Tevez and MPetrov. At least I kept Given for the discount, so hopefully he'll post some positive points today.

  16. Not a fantasist basher by no means, but that plonker has already wrapped up his week in review and the City game is still an hour or so from being played....yah, he really is passionate about this pool NOT

  17. Tevez, MPET, Sylvinho (maybe), and Salgado (maybe)

    ReplyDelete
  18. Given, Garrido (though not in MF), & Tevez for me today... hope to improve upon my 38 points

having a tough time putting a squad together for next week. want to take advantage of ManU's double week, but hard to pick players that will play both matches.. currently have Rooney, Valencia and Brown. Seems Brown/Evans will be fighting for a spot if Vidic is in fact back. I had Rafael, but seems Neville could start one of the matches? Valencia may get a rest one of the matches?

  19. no way Man U will be the only team with a double week next week, unless they make week 20 just the Tuesday and Wednesday games (which on the yahoo calendar they list them as day 22 (or 23) same as the Man U game.

  20. it will be interesting to see who Mancini favors up front. Tevez on fire, Benjani getting into the fray, Adebayor back from ACN, RSC, etc..

  21. Yea, I feel the fixture list will be sorted by wednesday, if it stands I am liking Rooney, Valencia, Rafael and Evra for the double. but Bean brings up some good points on rotation. If anything I think Fergie will go for all 6 pts and field strong teams. Either way Rafael is a better pick than Carrick for me

  22. Tevez with a week defining brace so far...benjani with a hat-trick of unintentional assists..

    ReplyDelete
  23. ah good, after 20 pts from 7 players, tevez about to make this a decent week :) might keep him for a while the way he is playing, though city have had good fixtures..

    ReplyDelete
  24. 33 pts frm tevez...wudve been with 14 pts for the week if not frm him...

    ReplyDelete
  25. end with 60.5point in this week
tevez saved the day of mine! 33points from him
more than half of my point!
    congratz that have tevez!

  26. Dropped Tevez and Petrov last week, as well as my large number of Arsenal players, after worrying about the snow.

I'm not a violent man usually, but I'm feeling pretty murderous at the moment.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Petrov with only 0.5 points? According to the text commentary I was watching he was all over the pitch, crossing the ball like mad and assisting on at least one of Tevez' goals ... that can't be right can it?

    ReplyDelete
  28. @Anonymous: I watched the game live, and Petrov was involved however his crosses never met any City players, thus no points. He didn't assist any goals and had no SOT. So his points are justified as bad as they were.

  29. I'm looking at D. Dunn, MPet, Valencia, Anelka, Defoe, Tevez and maybe Giovannin for the double. They might do some damage, specially Defoe against Hull. I just hope the weather is fine by then.
Hey AM - when is the Blog Cup gonna take place? I remember you mentioned it in one of your previous posts but I can't find it, info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

  30. i'm struggling to get the players i want in. Right now i want to add Defoe, Modric, (TBD defender), and Given. But with BDing Tevez, can't afford all of them :(. Settled with Ballack atm.

If they do update and include the Tues/Wed games (suspect they will) then Chelsea, Man U, and Tottenham have some pretty good fixures (and all at home). Also almost thinking of going for P. Robbo instead of Given as Blackburn get 2 decent-to-good match-ups at home (Fulham and Wigan). And they only give up about a goal a game at home.

  31. Damn, i dropped Tevez to buy Arshavin, what a foolish move.

  32. people will ask who to replace drogba if they drop him at 10.66 , one word- tevez. he was real cheaap a while ago.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Am I the only one not BDing Tevez?
I thought I had a pretty good evening, but after 20.5 points from Richards (wow!), Given (well...) and Petrov (WHAT?!), I've managed to drop 26 ranks overall. I didn't want to give up anyone from my midfield in order to afford Tevez, and I didn't want to drop Rooney either - even if next week is a DG for more teams other than ManU, two home fixtures against Burnley and Hull are very tempting.
My worries right now are about Petrov and Benitez. Petrov looked very involved in the game, but did nothing useful. I can't know if he even starts next week considering he rotation of ManC, and Everton are a very good oposition. I might take Milijas instead, but I need more time to think about it.
About Banitez it's more simple - Brum's game is on a real cancelation danger. The probable replacement is Carew, though I really want Benitez @Pompey. I didn't take Tevez because I had to ruin my team in order to make this move, and I'm not sure how well he'll away at Everton.

    For now:

    Given
    Vermaelen Brown Bale
    Petrov Modric Milner Valencia
    Rooney Sturridge Benitez

    Any advices?

  34. Shocker week. 21 points, and lost the discounts on Bale and Tevez as I had to miss both the Sat. and Mon. barn doors. I just loaded up on players from the Arse, Man. U, and WHU games on Friday night and hoped. That didn't work out so well for me.

So far for next week, I've got

    Kirk
    Verm, Alexander, Bale, Evra
    O'Hara, Valencia, Modric, Kranc
    Rooney, Defoe

I'll probably have to do something about O'Hara, but I'm holding him for now in hopes that mess gets resolved in a positive way.

  35. Fixture watchers might want to note that the official premier league game still has the 11 games in the next game week with the Man U Hull game being the extra one.

If the official game has that as its week, would have thought Yahoo would have it as the same????

    ReplyDelete
  36. Tevez!!! Really on fire! got him at 13+. Could be a season keeper.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Will Kranjar play this weekend? He looks a good bet. If he is, I will definitely get him against a weak Hull.
