Week 11 - Update

New is starting to flow in as we move within 24 hours of the Week 11 deadline. The big questions are obviously surrounding Nani, Fabregas & Van Der Vaart, and we have the answers below...

We all thought Nani was out with a groin injury after Ferguson told us so on Tuesday night, then Nani himself revealed yesterday that he might have chance for the Wolves game. However, news today from the Manchester United Press Conference has confirmed Nani is definitely out and could even be a doubt for the Manchester derby. I'm leaning towards dropping him because...

...I'm definitely keeping Van Der Vaart, even though he is is out (update from Redknapp press conference) of the Bolton game because of his hamstring injury. I'm prepared to take a zero for him at a cost of £6m, but not Nani as well. Hopefully VDV will be fit for the midweek game. Aaron Lennon also doubtful for tomorrow.

Arsenal will have captain Cesc Fabregas, Denilson, Alex Song and Andrey Arshavin all back for Sunday's Barclays Premier League clash against Newcastle at the Emirates Stadium after they missed the midweek game in Donetsk.

Malouda is fit for Chelsea at Liverpool,  meaning Kalou may have to settle for a place on the bench. Lampard is still out and Essien is doubtful.

Guaranteed starters according to Fantasy Football Scout are Cech, Ivanovic, Alex, Terry, Cole, Mikel, Zhirkov, Anelka, Drogba...with Ancelotti to decide between Malouda/Kalou and Essien/Ramires for the final 2 spots. Great news for Zhirkov owners...I'm obviously dropping Bosingwa,

Benjani has recovered from his knock and is training again, so is almost certain to face Wigan and he's an absolutely bargain at under £4m.

John Carew joins Emile Heskey on the sidelines for a few weeks - who plays upfront for Villa now?

That's all we have at the moment, but I'll keep updating this post as the day goes on, so please keep checking back.

How's your team shaping up? Are you dropping Nani, and if so, what discount will you be losing?

Cheers,
AM

  1. Mame Diouf was great against Chelsea. Do you think he 'll do well this weekend with or without Benjani in the starting lineup?

  2. My team so far is: FlappyHandski/ Bale, Squillaci, Boateng / Adam, Fabregas, Nasri, T.Cahill / Chamakh, Adebayor, Benjani.

I'm not really sure though. Can anyone help by telling me his/her opinion?

  3. Cant afford to take a 0 for VDV - I often have money left over so will drop him for 1 week.

Malouda will defo be dropped for Adam probably - already got Barton and Fabregas so dont know who else to stick in?

Forwards, leaning towards Chicharito but might stick Benjani in Dembele's place? Decisions decisions :-)

    Good shout AM btw YIDS!!!!

I for one will be rolling the dice on Stevie G this weekend.

  6. do u think VDV will be back for the midweek game?

    ReplyDelete
  7. I would definitely not sell VDV, if we had no midweek games.

But as @1.35 says, will he still not be ready for tuesday?

If that is the case, two games is a lot to miss for a discount of 3.6m?

    ReplyDelete
  8. As for me, I'm not thinking of dropping Nani because that would mean losing a discount of £6.5m and I'm not ready/stupid to do that. I also have VdV at £6m so I'm gonna keep him as well, and if this wasn't trouble enough I also have Fabregas whom I really want to keep but, under these circumstances, if there is only 1% doubt I will have no choice left but to drop him (does anyone here have Arsene Wengers phone number?).
Anyhow, I'm confident that in the long run this is the best decision. RIGHT?????

  9. With the Villa 'forwards crisis' do you think Stewarty Downing will be where the goals will come from. Or should I opt for an opposite number such as Clint Dempsey?

    ReplyDelete
  10. No Van der Vaart no Nani, already a bad week even before it's started.

    ReplyDelete
  11. No VdV no Nani No Problem. Theres other players to be picked up for a way lower price and are expected to do the same damage as those two.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Also,

    Alex/ Hernandez
    OR
    Squillaci/ Berbatov

    ?

    ReplyDelete
  13. I would go for Alex/Hernandez..

Berbz performance isnt the greatest lately and Squillaci doesnt go all out

    ReplyDelete
  14. @stevie g - looks like the same choice i have that!

i have spare money so i could drop VDV @ 6 and still get him back easily but if i drop him - will i buy him back? there's loads of choices for players at 7-10.

anyone watching FC United tonight? I'll be the one in red signing as loud as i can.

    ReplyDelete
  15. After losing discounts on Bale, Malouda and Drogba, i'm leaning towards taking the zero on VdV and Nani even for 2 weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  16. im hanging on to nani..

    ReplyDelete
  17. Made wrong decision to drop adam and lose the discount. Can afford to lose any discount any more as the price for good player keep increasing.

    cheers guys!

also does anyone think dropping Fabianski --> Robinson is worth it to fit Salcido into my team? With Villa looking toothless atm, Salcido could very well score big points again with a potential clean sheet/SOT/assist..

  19. give us a kiss stevie g3:07 pm, November 05, 2010

I have Fabianski at 9.77 so not that big a discount..and i'll be getting Salcido at full price too.

    Thanks.

  20. TGIF, lads...crazy fantasy Friday surely ahead of us!

Nani definitely goes. VDV definitely stays. Here is the rationale. Those two players are relatively speaking equal in terms of fantasy production...but VDV is much, much, much more valuable to your YFF side overall because of his cheap price. Not only does he give you production but he also has a carry-over effect throughout the rest of your line-up, allowing you to afford other higher priced players. The same can't be said for Nani (great player but bloody expensive) and so it is easier to drop him.

My biggest quandary is whether to pick Baines or Arteta this week. Interestingly, if you analyze their stats the two essentially give you the same production (more or less same CW, FW and PI...Arteta with more SC but Baines with more TW...Arteta scores more but Baines has the CS potential). Very tough call for me...love the idea of having both Arteta and Fabregas in my MF but, following the numbers, going with Baines might make more sense.

My other issue/concern is how much Larsson's production is going to be curtailed by Gardner's return.

Definitely playing Chicharito and Gyan up front (Gyan and Zigic = super value this week)...trying to decide whether or not I play not-so-super Mario as well.

  21. the fog is clearing ! .thankfully as these injuries have killed my orig team , holding nani, vdv, bosingwa & fabregas. selling nani even with 3 disc. selling vdv at 9 ( not at 6 ) so virt no disc. sold bosingwa too- that hurt a bit even though i've only got 1'ish disc ,but maybe he isn't a true season keeper is C.A's gonna keep rotating ivanovic around. will give walcott a try. not certain to start but he looks in very lively form.

    S.P.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'm a little bit confused with all these injury news (VDV, Nani, Lamps and rest out; Malouda and many other doubts). Or wait i'm really confused. I dont really know what this week will be for fantasy manager but i predict big swings.

    My current team (nearly accepted):
    Fabianski (Fab21)
    Bale, Ferdinand, Ridgewell
    Adam, Silva, Nasri, Brunt
    Hernandez, Chamakh, Dembele

any score over 90 will be big success :)

  24. berbatov or torres?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Taking a major (read: stupid?) risk this week and dropping both Nani and VdV at discount. I have usually had cash left over, and the VdV discount wasn't enough to convince me he was worth the zero. I figure it's a risk-takers game, and I felt like taking a risk. Anyway, here's my team:

    Foster
    Bale, Coleman, Zhirkov, PJones
    Nasri, Silva, Fabregas
    Gyan, Zigic, Hernandez

Hopefully my risk pays off. Good luck everybody!

  26. Some weeks I'd like a few more formations to play around with... how about 2-6-2 or 2-5-3 lol

    ReplyDelete
  27. It seems I dropped all of the doubts except for Fab4 since I watched Wenger's interview and he said that he will have late fitness test on Saturday.

    Current team:

    Fabianski
    Bale,Zhirkov,Salcido
    Park,Silva,Fab4,Adam
    Berbs,Chicha,Gyan

Any comments would be appreciated and please help with my decision dilemma how to upgrade my team if I drop Fab4 tomorrow. If i drop him I might opt with Milijas who is due a few SOT tomorrow and upgrade somwhere! Decisions decisions

Team name: DIMITAR BERBATOV FC [AM.Blog]

Wish you all good luck and THANK YOU AM!

Have gutted my team removing not only Nani but V.D.V. and Chamakh all at fair/good discounts.

My crash & burn team for the week...

    Cech

    Squillaci...Salcido....Zhirkov...R.Johnson

    Brunt....Adam....Nasri....Albrighton

    Varney.......Hernandez

  33. What I have so far:

    Fabianski

    Zhirkov, Bale, Sagna

    nasri Fabregas Silva Walcott

    hernandez Chamakah

    Questions:
    Should I keep Walcott?
    Should I keep Chamakah?
    Should I keep Fabregas?
Should I possibly look to pick up Park for Man U in the midfield since nani and a few others are a no show for United this weekend?

Thanks, any help would be great!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Like many people I've gutted my team this week with 6 changes. Once I decided to drop Drogba and not take zeros for VDV and Nani I had a lot of cash to play around with and I gone with some hunches and, I think for the first time this season, chosen a team that has representativs from 11 different teams.

    Foster
    Bale Salcido Zhirkov
    Adam Cleverly Fabregas Silva
    Bent Hernandez Benjani

No idea how this is going to work out!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Fabianski
    Zhirkov / Bale / Salcido / Vidic
    VDV / Adam / Barton / Nasri
    Chamakh / Hernandez

    Have $3 to spare

    Thinking of exchanging:
Nasri, Hern, Chamakh or Zhirkov... (I have none at a discount)... thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  36. i decided not to drop nani because i remember last year lots of ppl droped Drogba because he was out for a month playing in afcon. I know his discount was a lot larger than nani's but still, nani is a week in and week out consistent points gatherer and i feel buying him back for 17.62 is stretching the bank a bit!

    ReplyDelete
  37. 3m discount is tough to lose, but I think Nani will go, and VdV stay. This allows me to bring in Bale, who should get some of his phantom points back with VdV out, right?

This is the lineup I'm thinking of:

    Foster
    Boateng-Salcido-Bale
    Adam-VdV(@6m)-Fab-Arteta
    Chicharito-Gyan-Benjani

Cheap up front, hope it pays off. The only question:

    Arteta or Walcott?

Walcott probably won't start, but he seems to be playing brilliantly when given the chance. What do people think?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Ok tough week

    Foster
    Bale Boateng Zhirkov Salcido
    VDV Adam Arteta Gerrard
    Hernandez Benjani

    ReplyDelete
  39. Fernando or drogba????? Or should I stay away all together maybe lean toward bent

    ReplyDelete
  40. Team saved... had a hard time pressing that save button

    Cech

    Squillaci Jones Salcido Zhirkov

    Silva Gardner Dempsey Adam

    Chicharito Gyan

Hope for over 100 pnts. Good luck everyone!

    Adam Nasri Walcott Downing

  47. Juggernaut here...

Here goes everything - dropped malouda VDV bosongwa and silva. Gonna wait and see about malouda tho.

    My team this week is:

    Fabianski
    Boateng Zhirkov Salcido
    Adam Nasri T.Cahill Fabregas
    Yakubu Benjani Hernandez

Could be great but could so easily go horribly wrong :(

    ReplyDelete
  48. robinson
    boateng/zhirkov/salcido/bale

    dembele/hernandez/d.bent

could this line-up BREAK 100 pts? pls comment.

    ReplyDelete
  49. fabianski
    Bale/Salcido/Hutton
    VDV/Nasri/Silva/Walcott
    Hernandez/Tevez/Amoebi

I saw someone dropped Silva. Why? I don't see any injury information on him.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I'm holding VDV for 0.9 disc so not so painfull to let him go. I got Nani for 14+ but i think not worth to hold him for two games of zero.

    my current team:
    Fabianski
    Salcido/Squilac/Bale
    Fabregas/Milijas/Silva/Adam/Holden
    Hernandez/M.B.Diouf

back 3 seems too expensive for me and the forward seems too light. lost adam last week and paying the full price this week T_T.

For those who opt to have VDV and Nani for another 0 two weeks may i know the strategy to compensate the points??those two have been my main point contributor so far.

Hopefully not many surprises this week ^^.

    any thought??pls comment.

Any news on Fabregas? Ill swop him for Nasri if he's not fit and possibly upgrade Albrighton.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I went back and forth several times, but finally pushed save on dropping Nani. It's a risk, but I've got the funds to buy him back. And, it allowed me to fit in Bale, who should gets some of his points back now that VdV is out. That should hopefully make up for the VdV zero:

    Foster
    Boateng-Salcido-Bale
    Adam-VdV-Fabs-Brunt-Walcott
    Chicharito-Gyan

I sure hope Fabs and Walcott play...I feel uneasy about them...

    Fabianski

  65. I'm dropping Nani with a 1.7m discount but keeping VDV because I think most other people will take a zero for him too.

Debating whether to stick in Berbs, and hope he rediscovers his scoring form, or Hernandez, although Hernandez doesn't score phantom points, he just scores well if he scores a goal.

Maybe I'll avoid altogether and go with a Brum forward or something crazy like that...

Looking forward to the double-but-not-double gameweek(s) though ;o)

  74. I had to drop Nani for a big discount because i was already taking a zero for VdV and couldn't afford another one. Im trying something different in hope of improving my ranking.

    My final team:
    Schwarzer
    Zhirkov-Squillaci-Boateng
    VdV-Adam-Fabregas-Obertan
    Chicharito-Chamakh-Drogba

Hoping Obertan will start, and if he does he'll want to seize his opportunity given he's already scored in midweek, he'll be trying to keep his good form. Also, I have a feeling it's gonna be Drogba's week. Adam is providing consistent points. If he plays, Fabregas is almost certain to score big against a very inconsistent Newcastle side. Chamakh can get on the end of great spells of passing and might have a few chances at goal. Hernandez is overscoring Berbatov in the past weeks and hopefully he'll continue his superb scoring form. In defence Squillaci might get a clean sheet and might score of get a SOT given his aerial threat. Boateng has played almost in every position for City and he has a possible clean sheet and maybe a few blocked shots. Zhirkov has gotten a few SOT as well as a couple of assists, and might get a clean sheet against a struggling Liverpool side. Schwarzer's great performance last week, has guaranteed him a spot on my team. Van der Vaart is a season keeper and i dont mind getting a zero from him.

That's all for this time.... GL to all
