Week 10 - Update

Another week and another 100 comments in the Player Picks post - fantastic stuff guys, thanks for your continued support!

There's lots to get through today so lets get straight in to the team and injury news that we have confirmed at this early stage. A reminder this post will be updated throughout the day as we get information from manager's press conference.

The big news is on Carlos Tevez - he is 100% out of the Wolves game and has flown back to Argentina for further treatment on the thigh injury picked up vs Arsenal. We don't know how long he'll be missing for, but there are suggestions he'll be struggling to make the Manchester derby in 2 weeks time. Adebayor is being tipped to lead the line at Wolves, but Balotelli may have a chance.

Arsene Wenger has hinted he could start with the same team that won that City league encounter last weekend, but he's usually pretty helpful in his press conference so we'll know more around 1pm. What we do know is Vermaelen, Diaby, Van Persie, Gibbs, Ramsey & Almunia are injured, Wilshire is suspended and Koscielny is back. Upson could be back for the Hammers, but that might not be a good thing as he's quite rubbish.

Mikel Arteta is doing everything he can to get fit for Everton's winnable home game vs Stoke and we might have a better idea later whether he'll make it (Update: Moyes still isn't sure and will decide late tomorrow, so it's probably best to avoid him). Stoke themselves have problems with a virus going round the team - Kenwyne Jones & Jermaine Pennant are two of those affected and Etherington has an knock so all 3 are slight doubts.

Mark Albrighton is suspended for Aston Villa's game vs Birmingham after his sending off in the Carling Cup. Agbonlahor & Petrov are out so Sidwell & Reo-Coker will be paired in midfield with Heskey continuing up front (at least until he's carried off injured)

Peter Odemwingie is still having problems with his knee injury so is again a major doubt for West Brom. Shame as he would've been a good pick at a Blackpool side who are playing well but are also very open so  concede a lot of goals.

Frank Lampard is apparently still a week away from fitness, Malouda is a slight doubt with an ankle knock (but my gut says he'll be ready), we still don't know about Ramires so we can't be sure on Zhirkov's starting spot and Alex remains out. Samba is back from suspension for Blackburn & Nelsen returns from injury.

UPDATES @ 1pm....

Ancelotti has stated that Alex is ready to return and Fantasy Football Scout are contemplating whether this could mean Alex, Terry & Ivanovic all play to combat Blackburn's aerial threat. This would mean Bosingwa dropping to the bench, but you'll have to make your own decision on this one as we're unlikely to get confirmation either way. Lampard & Ramires are still out so Zhirkov should continue - no solid news on Malouda so I might stay away.

Man City have released a summary of Mancini's press conference where he suggests Balotelli could start at Wolves - very interesting piece of news, and I'm now considering him seeing he costs only 5.84. Kolarov could be back next week so I'll be keeping an eye on that one too.

The BBC are reporting Redknapp is considering putting Bale on the bench vs Man Utd ahead of the Inter game. Hopefully it's just more Harry bullshit, but I will be furious if he does this; the league is always priority. Tom Huddlestone is out of the frame with the ankle injury that kept him out of last week's draw against Everton. Ledley King and Vedran Corluka both remain out with groin injuries but better news sees Jermain Defoe making good progress after his ankle injury. He could be back next month.

That's it for now - please keep checking back throughout the day as I'll be adding any important team/injury news to this post. If you read/hear anything you feel may be of use please add it to the comments section below.

  2. According to fergie, rooney may be out for morw than 3weeks. This certainly proves the prospect of hernandez over the next 4 weeks. What's more, his price is still only 7×× units! Get him in now! That said i still may not get him as i have a feeling that berbs will do well this week and don't want to double up on united strikers.

My team (still provisional at the moment)
    Fabianski
    Bosingwa Boateng Coleman
    Adam VDV Nani Fabs Nasri
    Chamwow Berbs

Doubts over bosingwa's starting status(ancelotti should clarify that today). If bosingwa starts he is a SK at 6×× units. Nasri, Chamwow, Berbs and Coleman are not others that I am open to change. The rest should stay unless injured.

    Any comments or suggestions, guys?

  4. Joshtottenham- sorry my mistake. 7×× was his barndoor price. I feel that even at 10.5 he is a good bet for a nailed on starter at manyoo(at least for the next few weeks anyway)

In other news upson is set to return for west ham to face arsenal. Not that it would interest us much anyway.

  6. Any sugestions with what to go.
    currently have Bale/VDV/Nani/Berba
    Thinking on going to Boateng/Fab4/Nani/Berba
    or Bale/VDV/Fab4/Cham

Witch of the 3 combinations is better

    ReplyDelete
  7. Any sugestions for this combination?

    Fabianski
    Zhirkov Boateng Squilaci
    VDV Nani Brunt Barton Nasri
    Drogba hernandez

  8. Still confused between 2 teams:

    Hart
    Salcido Boateng Coleman
    VDV Nani Silva Cecs
    Chicha - Adebay - Chamakh

    or

    Krul
    Coleman Boateng Squilaci
    VDV Nani Silva Cecs
    Drogba Chammakh Heskey

    Which one is better?

    GM,

  9. @ the post above, personally I would go for team 2, but to each his own.

Need help on my team with 1.9 in bank:

    Kirkland
    Bosingwa/Boateng/Squillaci
    Vdv/Malouda/Silva/Nasri
    Drogba/Torres/Chamakh

If Malouda is a doubt, should I change? Got a feeling he might be rested for Champ Lge.

    ReplyDelete
  10. @ Partly Sunny
Prefer your 3rd option - Arsenal have a fine fixture
    @GM
    Like your 2nd one more
Feels more balanced & without Adebayor I prefer it!

    Just my opinion

9.49 left to spend and don't really want to drop anyone...

Carroll and Silva for Hernandez and Odemwinge?

    Walcott?

Don't want to drop Silva though...

    ReplyDelete
  18. Last night I dreamt Everton beat Stoke 4-1 and I'm a Liverpool supporter! Can't tell you who scored though :(

    ReplyDelete
  19. Gerrard or Torres?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Anelka or Adebyor????

Dropping Anelka frees up some points but he Scores well against blackburn 10 in 14 appearances

    ReplyDelete
  21. Odemwingie is unlikely stay away

    ReplyDelete
  22. change nasri for adam/barton? what do u guys think?i got nasri for 8+

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hi Guys,

Anyone with an idea as to who will start up front for city? Adebayor/Balotelli? or maybe even both?

    SGF

    ReplyDelete
  24. Definitely Adebayor, Balotelli has not settled in they may go with both for a win but I put my money on adebayor to hit the net

    ReplyDelete
  25. Can anyone guess Chelsea's front line? I assume it will be Drogs with 2 of Kalou Malouda and Anelka

    ReplyDelete
  26. @Donut

Maybe Brunt to Nani? Manyoo Spurs has been high scoring recently, and when Manyoo score this season Nani is usually involved.

My dilemma? Bale + Nasri OR Kompany + Fabregas

    ReplyDelete
  27. @JUELZ, thanks for your advice, had my doubts over Adebayor due to his general lacklustre performances recently - europa league apart - and Balotelli's golden boy status -it appears- with Mancini. However, I think you may well be right in regards to Adebayor's starting status.

    SGF

    ReplyDelete
  28. What are Bosingwa`s chances with Alex returning ? Will we get an update on your current team AM ? Confused...

    ReplyDelete
  29. Balotelli came to City cos Mancini assured him of regular starts, but fact is a far from match fit so i expect Adebayo to start even though i'm picking Balotelli.

    ReplyDelete
  30. everybody tells me to keep bosingwa but im nervous he played very well but only lasted 70. Realistically he should start and I can see ferria playing champions league next week with alex and either terry or ivanovic get a break. So im going to stick with him but if you are really unsure Zhirkov is cheaper and will most definitely play the middle again lampard and ramires are out

    ReplyDelete
  31. @Frog..i prefer 2nd one...kmpany/FABulous

    -raff-

    ReplyDelete
  32. @Juelz- Bosingwa played about 76mins last wk, doesn't mean anything though with Alex back it'll mean Ivanovic and Ferreira on the bench and you'll expect one or both of them to come in at some point.

    Ebi

    ReplyDelete
  33. Ebi your thoughts are not far fetched I can definitely see it happening. Most likely Ferreira around the same time as last game will sub for Bosi.

    ReplyDelete
  34. so no one knows if malouda will start? lol,i thought ancelloti gives the list on press confrence?

    ReplyDelete
  35. my team
    kirk
    zhirkov j.boat coleman
    nani c.adam VdV brunt fab
    drogs hernandez

is zhirkov gonna start against blackburn?
    have him on discount tho

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think Zhirkov is starting. That's the idea I got from reading the pregame notes the Chelsea website. I think FloMa is starting as well.

    ReplyDelete
  37. for what its worth :

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/oct/29/squad-sheets-blackburn-rovers-chelsea

Question is whether kalou starts, if he doesn`t, zhirkov will.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Looking at blackpool, Adam is still marked as doubtful (ankle.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/oct/29/squad-sheets-blackpool-west-bromwich-albion

I will not take the risk and switch to Barton.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Blackpool/west brom had 10 goals last season, there's no reason we shouldn't see about 4 goals there.

    ReplyDelete
  40. i think i gonna keep c.adam even if he is not playing against west brom.
    have him at 5.96..

    ReplyDelete
  41. Adam...
    Malouda...
    Bale...

    All not sure...

    WTF, your input please !

    ReplyDelete
  42. - Bale or Alex
    - Berb or Bent
    - Coke Zero or Diet Coke

    ReplyDelete
  43. Hey guys, please comment and make suggestions!

    Fabianski

    Squillaci Zhirkov Boateng

    Nasri Fabregas Nolan Nani

    Hernandez Berbatov Chamakah

    ReplyDelete
  44. Mike lose Squillaci for mmmmm bosingwa or coleman can not trust arsenal to keep a clean sheet. the 2 i mentioned get forward A LOT more then squillaci more points expected. and I would becareful going with 2 united strikers look elsewhere keep one (That one should be Chicarito he is on fire and cheaper) use the extra to grab Anelka good scoring record on blackburn and with samba occupying drogba expect points from anelka or even malouda

    ReplyDelete
  45. @Anon 10:47PM - Coke Zero? A.K.A. Reo-Coker? lol! (i.e. the number of points he's expected to score)

Then who would be Diet Coke?

    (ok, bad jokes, sorry...)

    ReplyDelete
  46. So, it seems that Bosingwa may not start, but will he play? He has the ability to do well, even in a short time. And, I'm tired of losing all my discounts. I may keep him.

Same with Adam. Even if he doesn't play, at 5.40, considering his returns, it would be crazy to drop him unless he was going to be out for an extended period of time.

This will be my first week without the 'big 3':

    Hart
    Bosingwa-Boateng-Squillaci
    Adam-VdV-Nani-Fab
    Chamakh-Little Pea-Anelka

@Julez - I agree that Arsenal has trouble keeping a clean sheet, but even against West Ham? Still, am considering dropping.

    Which one: Squillaci-Salcido-Jara-Coleman-Zhirkov?

Keep Anelka or switch to 3-5-2 with Nasri?

    ReplyDelete
  47. @Juelz

Thanks for the suggestions, I really appreciate it. I had Boswinga actually but switched to Squillaci because I heard he was not going to get the start, and Ivanovic was? Also, I think I am going to drob berb and prolly go for Anelka or someone else possibly. Any other recommendations?

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  48. What do you think about Walcott?

    ReplyDelete
  49. @Mike - It seems that Walcott may not start, according to what I've read, so there is some uncertainty there. But, he may be a great pickup on the barn door. I'm thinking of picking him up then.

    ReplyDelete
  50. @kwyjibo - I would choose either Saicido or Coleman. Arsenal have great chance of CS, but Squillaci doesn't get much else. Zhirkov is also good but may not start. Also Nasri >> Anelka; better matchups, much better form.

@Mike - Walcott is not going to start this week, and bit expensive for a sub. I'm hoping he plays doesn't score too many points, but do get him on the BD.

Decided to sell Bale (finally!) to make room for Drogba. I do hope he turns it around this week after last week's fail. This is what I have now:

    Fabianski
    Zhirkov Coleman Alcaraz
    Adam Vdv Cesc Brunt
    Chamakh Drog Varney

Varney IMO is this week's most overlooked player. Blackpool & West Brom are attacking oriented and I'll be surprised if they don't score 4 goals total

    ReplyDelete
  51. Hi guys,

Which of these would you recommend: Arshavin and Malouda (Malouda at 12.87) or Fabregas and Hernandez (both at current prices)?

I could with some advice on this one. Tempted to go with the latter but I'm not sure whether I want to loose my discount on Malouda.

    Thanks,

    JJ

    ReplyDelete
  52. @JJ - That's a really tough call. One thing that is definite is that Cesc needs to be BDed for the following double week. Chelsea is @LVL next week and if LVL is truly back to winning ways then it might be a hard matchup. Malouda is a slight doubt, but if he's sure to play, then it might be worth keeping onto. I would choose Nasri over Arshavin if you can't get Cesc this week.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Sagna or Alex in the back? Also, Silva a good pick, he should get the nod in his current form correct? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  54. @SK - Love you team, nice mix. Also agree about blackpool/west brom but just don't know who to pick.
I believe Arsenal will keep a CS this wk or next and wouldn't want to bring in Fabianski at 10 or more so i'm keeping him but a CS is not likely considering its a derby, West ham could just nick a goal.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Wanna ask...which one is confirmed to be starter for zhirkov and bosingwa?and malouda? Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I've spent entirely too much time agonizing over my team, and finally made myself hit the confirm button. My team:

    Schwarzer
    Coleman, Bosingwa, Zhirkov, Boateng
    Nani, VDV, Arshavin
    Chicharito, Drogba, Balotelli

    Good luck everybody!

  58. Afterlong thoughts I have saved my team.

    Coleman Bosingwa Salcido
    Nani Reo Coker Fabregas Arshavin
    Chamakh Chicarito Anelka

    Any thoughts

  60. Malouda or gerrard?

    ReplyDelete
  61. I believe Malouda and Bosingwa will start..

    ~P.K~

    ReplyDelete
  62. Carlo Ancelotti has a tough decision to choose who will be on the line up at the right back between Bosingwa or Ivanovic. Ferreira will drop to 3rd choice right back.

    ReplyDelete
  63. guys please coment my team..

    foster
    zhikov,boateng,bosingwa
    nani,vdv,walcott,nasri,malaoda
    bendtner and di santo

    ReplyDelete
  64. @anon - im pressure sure bendtner/walcott will not start. bosingwa is another who i cant say for sure. i would switch bendtner to chamakh and upgrade walcott to arshavin or berbatov, etc. and upgrade di santo.

  73. I'm pretty happy with my team this week. Though a bunch of it depends on Carlo's team selection, but it's only a game after all... right?

My last move just now was trading up Holden for Tim Cahill. At home I hope he'll put his head to a few crosses...

    Hart
    Bosingwa Coleman Zhirkov (@4.22)

    ReplyDelete
  83. Well, it should be final. I hate it, but I had no other choice. I didn't plan on bringing in Fabregas, but after Tevez was declared out and as I don't count on either Torres or Drogba right now, I chose him as my premium midfielder. I know, it's too dependent on Arsenal. I know, Herenandez is playing against a top team and we haven't seen him perform against one ever. If Arsenal wins big while ManCity and Chelsea slip, it's going to be a fine week for me. If not, it might be ugly. It's all or nothing and I hate playing that way. But right now, that's all I've got...

    Schwarzer
    Squillaci Coleman Boateng
    Nani VDV Brunt Nasri Fabregas
    Chamakh Hernandez

If anyone has any good advice, please share. Good luck anyways to anyone who HAS a clue about what he should do this weekend.
