Week 17 - Brief Summary

Very very quick summary guys...I'm still stuck on what to do.

The best I could do in 15 minutes is breaking it down from almost 70 down to 35 players..

Almunia
Fulop
Given

Verm
Gallas
Baird
Faye
Steinsson
Alexander
Neill
Heitinga
Bassong
Sylvinho
Zabaleta
Upson

Arshavin
Taylor
Fabregas
Etherington
Dempsey
Duff
Nasri
Lee
Gerrard
Bily
O'Hara
Kranjcar
Eagles

Eduardo
Tuncay
Klasnic
Rooney
Santa Cruz

Correct - there's no Drogba. I'm stuck on Tuncay vs Santa, Eduardo vs Klasnic, Walcott, or Steinsson...loads of stuff, plus I'm full up & very very drunk :)

Cheers, good luck & merry xmas!!!
AM

p.s. Check weather conditions in the morning, Burnley v Bolton is a risk - have a back-up plan.

  4. Diamanti is my gamble of the week. With Franco out he should be pushed further up-field. The guy is addicted to shooting from anywhere on the pitch and he takes penalties and free-kicks. Considering a lot of the "3 gamers" will only play 2 games anyway (I'm talking about you Eduardo) I think it's a great pick. You heard it here first..

    Irons.

Which lineup do you all think is better? If the Burnley vs Bolton is postponed then I will most likely go with the 2nd one

  12. as of now Burnley / Bolton is still on. I dont think it will be canceled.

    Final Team:

    Verm, Bass, Slyvinho
    Bily, Arsh, Nasri, Etherington
    Tuncay, Rooney, Klasnic

    Tony

  13. Gone really cheap at the back in order to power-pack my midfield. Can't see a lot of clean sheets over 2 or 3 games, so why spend on the back line IMO.

    Fulop
    Verm, Zaba, Salgado (LOL!)
    Arsh, Lamps, MTay, Duff
    Klasnic, RSC, Tuncay

Good luck to all & happy holidays!

    ReplyDelete
  14. @Dave: I am confident Salgado will start, and thats backed up by FantasyFootballScout.com which is very accurate IMO. At 2.9mil hes playing midfield in a game that has 0-0 writen all over it. Could be the buy of the week. If I want RSC I have to bring in Salgado, but I think Neil/Tuncay is a better balanced pick. Tuncay should start all 3 matches and if he can't score more than 5pts then I'll beat myself lol:

    Almunia
    Verm, Sylvinho, Neil
    Arshavin, MTAY, Eth, Bily
    Rooney, EdS, Tuncay

I feel like I have a very balanced team, looking forward to tomorrow. Good luck everyone!

  15. Finally dropped Drogs! Being in the States makes the weather watch a lot more difficult so I'll go with my gut

    Kirks (Ughh!!)
    Alexander Baird Konchesky
    Duff Dempsey Diaby Arsh
    Klasnic Zamora RSC

    8 triples
That might also amount to my drunkeness much like AM.
    Good luck all

  16. @ Kellz - thx for the info about Salgado, it's somewhat reassuring. I know he started last game in the MF, but my main driver in selecting him is budgetary. If he can actually manage to score a point or two, it will be gravy LOL. He is definitely an enabler that allows some bigger picks in the the MF.

  17. Here's what Ivory Coast coach Halihodzic had to say about this players arriving on Dec. 27. Pretty definite that Drogs is gone on Sunday.

Although Chelsea were hopeful that the Ivory Coast would allow Drogba and Kalou to remain with the club for the Fulham game on Monday 28th December, the Ivorian national coach, Vahid Halilhodzic, has made it clear that this will not be possible.

“I’ve had conversations with Carlo Ancelotti who wanted his players kept back in England, as did Arsenal, Manchester City and others like Hibernian. But my answer to all of them was straightforward and clear – no. There are no exceptions to the rule because how can I organise my schedule when I have players flying in from different countries on different days? December 27 is the day they must report, December 28 is the day they do their tests and every single one of my players will be there for it, without exception.”

  18. According to the Arsenal website, Fabregas did not train today and is 50/50 for the Villa game, while Traore is available again.

  19. According to the BBC Weather site, during the Burnley-Bolton match it will rain heavily, and the temprature will be 3C. Not the best conditions, but not snow at all. There's only sleet in the prospect, and it should've happened already, so if there's any postponement it should be announced in the next hour. Also there's no fog, so my guess is that the match will go on as planned.

  20. @SF: Thank you, I was trying to figure out the same thing by looking through the Burnley online papers. Glad others are on top of it, although heavy rain or sleet still doesn't sound very good, but as my only Bolton player is MTAY, I am hoping one of his free kicks can skid across the surface into the back of the net!

    Duke(1.44) LOL!!
    Alexander(5.15)¦Verma(7.38)¦Solgado(2.9 LOL)¦
    Reid(9.49)¦Arsh(15.83)¦Mikel(3.54)¦Nasri(8.10)¦

  22. Dempsey vs Murphy??? any suggestions!

    ReplyDelete
  23. QUESTION: HOW MANY GAMES WILL DROGBA LOSE FOR THE ACN? 3 OR 4 ?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Kellz - I like your team, mine is similar
    Given
    Nelsen/Dunne/Verm
    Duff/Bily/Arshavin/Eth
    Rooney/SantaClaus/Tuncay
If I could be sure about Salgado I would swap him for Nelsen which would let me change Duff for MTay (but I do like Duff's 3 games...)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Anonymous 10:21 - I would go for Duff if you want Fulham midfield, but Murphy/Dempsey can both get points. Murphy is most likely to be on set piece duty, but he just came back and might not play 3 games...

    ReplyDelete
  26. re drogba, I believe it could be 5 games if they get to the final...which is not unreasonable.

And then I suppose there is the possibility he needs to be rested after playing so many games...

  30. Burnley FC confirmed that today's match vs. Bolton will go ahead:

    "Burnley v Bolton: Game On!
Posted on: Sat 26 Dec 2009

    Updated: Boxing Day

Burnley Football Club can confirm that today's game goes ahead as planned.

Club staff spent Christmas Day clearing the club's main car park of snow and ice and ensuring seating and areas in and around the stadium are snow-free.

However, fans should be aware that despite approches to the ground being clear, pathways and roads around Turf Moor may still be icy and caution should be taken.

We respectfully remind supporters that the sell-out Boxing Day game kicks off at 2pm.

All supporters travelling to Turf Moor on Boxing Day are being advised to arrive early as there are NO buses running in the town.

With public transport severely affected, town centre car parks will be open as usual.

However, they will charge for entry and are expected to be extremely busy, as this is a major shopping day.

Burnley Football Club recommends the Aircelle car park, which is around a 15 minute walk from Turf Moor."
