  3. First off.. Assistant Manager - thank you for keeping this blog up and running. Kills loads of time on a Friday afternoon at work.

My team for the week after replacing injured players ia a big gamble. Let me know what you think:

    Given
    Vermaelen, Mancienne, Lescott
    Gerrard, Ireland, Deco, Milijas
    Drogba, Tevez, Keogh

  4. AM,

There are 2 set of options for Mid

    1. Ashavin / Mokoena
    2. Nani / Koumas

    Which one will you prefer?

If Koumas, Milijas, Jimenez and Jarvis which one of them will you prefer?

    ReplyDelete
  5. SK - I'd personally go for Nani and Milijas. Arshavin is the only player in the other alternative that will score good points and he has an awful fixture away at Man U.

My dilemma is Adebayor/Gomez or Robinho/Mokoena. Any advice would be appreciated.

  6. Really struggling with the Lamps or Gerrard decision. Lamps hasnt been himself fantasy wise yet but they are at home vs Burnley while Stevie G has been consistant even though Liverpool havent been. What do you think? Also im trying to choose 2 of the 3 Nani, Modric or Tevez. I feel Modric is more likely to score around his value while Tevez and Nani will be either hit or miss.

  7. Steve LUFC,

Thanks for your advice. I have watch Wigan previou games and found that Koumas is a huge potential. He likes to shoot and looks like will score goal soon.

My original choice was Nani & Koumas. I know that Milijas is a good potential as well but I haven't see how he play. Therefore I think I'll stick with my original choice.

How about others player? Do you have any comment on it?

If I was you I definatly go for Adebayor/Gomez.

  8. Koumas and Wigan in general may struggle v. Everton. I feel this is a match to avoid (I think Sinclair deserves a start, as well. Something else to consider w/regards to Koumas Finally, No one ever mentions Thomas/Wigan. Taking a share of free kicks) As for Shorey, I think the lads on talkSport nailed it yesterday; Shorey simply hasn't been good enough, and Cuellar is someone who should be starting from the bench. Perhaps Shorey moves before deadline? Any Villa fans have opinions?? I would also be surprised if Jarvis/Wolves started tomorrow's match on the bench. Any inside news on this? (Donegal 08)

  9. Just FYI ... Sky Sports predicts Jo and Cahill up front for Everton (no Saha).

    ReplyDelete
  10. @Fidan - Bent away at Stoke? The Potters have traditionally been pretty good at home.
@OS - keep in mind Distin coming into Everton's lineup which could shift Neville back to midfield and JRod to the bench. Or Neville sits, but it's a risk.
@Dr.Teeth - very interesting approach, I think with this year's 75 min clean sheet rule, it makes sense to load up a bit on defenders. I would question both Lescott and Vidic. Lescott because he's just coming into the squad and I don't think he has produced as much as he used to (when he plays). Vidic because of the matchup. I would look at better matchups like Chelsea and Spurs: Bosingwa/Cashley Cole/Carvalho or Assou-Ekotto/King.
@Max - I have been looking to upgrade from MyHill, but looking at the upcoming schedule the more premium keepers have a tough couple weeks: Given (ARS, @ManU), Foster (@Spurs, ManC), Green (@WIG, Liv, @ManC), Cudicini (ManU, @Chel). Not saying that they won't be putting up a bunch of saves and potentially points, but likely no clean sheets. Henessey could be an option as Wolves don't have a terrible upcoming schedule, but would like to see how they settle into the premier league.
@Kress - Rooney could either score huge or get a red card for punching Gallas in the face, or put up 1.5 points in a nil nil draw.
@Skip - thinking of selling Hunt? I think he'll be putting up some good points.

  11. what do you think of my team?

    Fulop
    Bassong Stearman McCartney
    Lampard Mokoena Mascherano Palacios
    Drogba Defoe Adebayor

My defence and keeper are weak but I want a strong attack. Your info AM says that Fulop will not be starting for Sunderland. Is this a mistake or is he injured/benched.
Also, any tips for who I should barndoor for next week, thanks in advance

    ReplyDelete
  12. Bosingwa now has his clean sheet points and it's put me 36th overall.
To answer AM's question I am punching above my weight at the moment but have always finished in the top 1000.
    My team at moment...
    B. Foster
    P. Evra J. Bosingwa S. Bassong M. Richards
    N. Milijas W. Palacios L. Modric
    W. Rooney D. Drogba J. Defoe

A bit Spurs/Man U heavy, but Spurs are in form with a good match up and Man U defence should see a bit of action.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Jamie O'Hara is w/Pompey on loan until January. I am intrigued, regardless of matchup. (Donegal08)

  14. Looks like I've settled on a lineup for the weekend.

    Given

    Bassong/Vermaelen/Givet

    Milijas/Gomez/Abou Diaby/Arshavin

    Drogba/Robinho/Defoe

Feel like there's a good mix of standard picks and some unorthodox choices which could seperate myself from the crowd if this squad pays off.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Lampard/K Jones or Gerrard/Altidore

It's a tough one. After Raffa complaining about Gerrard I just know he is going to have a stormer! But I can also see Jones doing better than Altidore or anyone else for 10 points...

    ReplyDelete
  16. i feel pretty happy with all my fantasy line-ups (playing French, Italy, Spain and England games) for the first time.

Of course I'm still getting a feeling deco will end up not playing just to screw me over.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hey Meh

Any tips for me with the Spanish fantasy football? First time i've done it and my knowledge of La Liga is sketchy at best!

    James

  18. Hey I got a question... Rodwell or Mokoena?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I'd probably go with Rodwell even though his starting status is uncertain. If he comes on i'm sure he'll rack up more points that Mokoena.

    ReplyDelete
  20. @12am: Moke will definately start, but Rodwell is questionable because Distin is coming in which could push Neville back to mid. I don't like either but Moke is the sure thing, but he has the chance to give you negative points. Your choice :D

    ReplyDelete
  21. Saha will play?? He is only 7.14! Anyone who knows??

    ReplyDelete
  22. I promised myself I wouldn't do this but here I sit on Friday night tinkering with my team...

I have two teams in mind PLEASE help me out...

    Team 1
    Foster

    Verm, Bassie, Richards

    Gerrard, Moks, Rodwell, Modric

    Drogba, Robinho, Defoe

    Team 2

    Foster

    Verm, Bassie, Richards

    Gerrard, Modric, Hunt, Deco

    Drogba, Keane, Altidore

Team 1 is a better play obviously safer

Team 2 feels like I'm trying to go for the fences...

    Help...

    ReplyDelete
  23. SAHA WILL START? ANYONE WHO KNOWS? PLEASE HELP!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. @Douche - I like Team2 personally, though I'm not sure of Foster in goal against the Gunners. I'm guessing you have him at a discount? Maybe Gordon as a cheap option? I think with Team1 Mok & Rodwell could hurt if Mok gets a yellow/red card and Rodwell sits. I think Keane is due (though so is Robinho) and you gotta love Jozy for the price, hopefully he can keep his little streak going.

    ReplyDelete
  25. No one will know for sure until line ups are announced, best guess? Saha won't start but again this is based purely on speculation. In that price range a player who will start is Altidore...

    ReplyDelete
  26. @12:32 - Saha? probably, but there are better options out there for the price, in my opinion. Rodellaga, Altidore or any of the scores of decent midfield picks just under 8 if you are willing to change formation.. Yak is pretty much back (been on the bench past few matches), Jo is healthy, so not sure about picking Saha.

    ReplyDelete
  27. bean - Thanks for the advice, I like Foster just because he's been playing well and I do have him at a discount. I'm fairly certain that I'll keep Foster because I have a hunch about him.

A little scary to invest too heavily in Hull especially on the road, you have to think the Wolves will be gunning for the W. I'm almost positive I will barn door Altidore but I'm nervous to go away from more of a sure thing in Robinho. I'm confident in Keane, at least confident enough to sell Defoe for him.

I could go for a modified line up of

    Foster

    Verm, Bassie, Richards

    Gerrard, Moks, Deco, Modric

    Drogba, Keane, Robinho

Allows me to eliminate the Rodwell question mark...

    ReplyDelete
  28. damn.. broke the friday rule too.. hope it wont turn on me.. changed richards, rodwell to wilkinson, jimenez.

  29. Douchebag United1:32 am, August 29, 2009

Okay here it is tell me I'm a fool... although I can still change it back...

Foster - Not willing to give this guy up

    Verm - Same thing

Bassie - Good discount and fixture

Richards - Good discount and fixture

    Gerrard - PK @ Bolton

Modric - Please put up some fantasy value

    Deco - Please play...

Moks - Please don't get a red card

    Drogba - Won't sell...again

Keane - Why not he's due right?

Adebayor - Over Robinho although I can still go back to Robinho very easily...

    ReplyDelete
  30. Douche - Only thing I would say, which you've already kind of pointed out, is the risk of Deco sitting the bench. But hey, if he does play, I think he's great value. But there are options in that price range that are more certain to play: Milijas, Jordi, Palacios, Fellaini, Koumas, Malbranque, Huddlestone, Jimenez.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Douchebag United1:57 am, August 29, 2009

    The risk/reward is killing me!

    I like Deco over

Milijas - Subbed out at half and didn't do too well last week, could be better but meh...

Jordi - Wigan hasn't looked the same since they first burst on the scene

Palacios - Already have Modric and Keane don't want too many Spurs, although I am a fan : )

    Fellaini - I don't trust Screech

    Koumas - See Jordi

Malbranque - Villa is intriguing this week

    Huddlestone - See Palacios

Jimenez - Not ready to jump on the Hammers band wagon

What about Adebayor vs. Robinho? This is my biggest question now. I realize that Robinho scores more point without goals but he looked like do-do against Crystal City, Crystal City??? Adebayor is in form and seemingly scores every week this year. I go and say that and he goes in the toilet...

    ReplyDelete
  32. @ bean

I was talking about picking Bent on BD for week5 (which is actually at home vs HULL)...so you kinda missed that one...

    @ Douchebag Utd
I'd go for Robinho ahead of K2. If you look at the stats you'll see that Robinho doesn't have yet any assist or goal and he actually scored almost same pts as Ade did. But...WHO knows...!!!
I have Robinho on my team btw, if that helps :D...!!!

    @ Everyone
I checked on some sites and possible line-ups but I'm kind of confused...!!! Nani seems LIKELY to play, but hey, I'm a Fantasy manager, I need something more SPECIFIC and more CERTAIN... ANYONE got news of his starting status???

    Good luck...!!!

    Hasta la Vista

Thanks bean and Fidan for the advice anyone else want to weigh in on the Ade vs. Robinho debate? Or for that matter the team 1 vs team 2 debate from 12:25 am? Your advice could be crucial!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Why don't you do some rearrangment in team 2. Play 3-5-2, sell Altindore (buy Jimenez or Milijas instead) and upgrade Keane to Robinho (or Ade if you fancy him)...I hope I didn't mess up even further your choice :D...!!!

I appreciate the creativity but it seems to make sense to have both a Tot striker and a Man City striker?

    ReplyDelete
  36. @James, sorry haven't been at the comp for awhile. I wish i did have some tips but it my first year too so i haven't a clue what i'm doing. I will say you can get some real cheap defenders (Abiol is at a dollar as well as someone else). Personally i think Messi is a great pick and Aguero will be very good.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Also forgot to mention Xabi is only at 5.23 which is really cheap in my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  38. have DECO and ROBINHO- looking to switch to ESSIEN @ KUYT,anybody?

  40. question about fantasy la liga, I just went on it to create a team but then noticed how expensive every one is. Ronaldo is 30, there are 10 players above 21, I dont see how anyone could have a decent team?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Is Nani playing or not??

    ReplyDelete
  42. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT JASON ROBERTS? HE IS ONLY 7.08 AND PLAYING AT HOME AGAINST SUNDERLAND!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Thoughts on this team?

    Drogba - Addy - Jones
    Gerrard - Gomez - Milijas - Deco
    Bassong- Wilkinson - Richards
    Given

I got Gerrard at 21, but am sure he is going to have a stonker after Raffa said he wasn't at his best.

I could sell jones for 10 and get a midfielder, but after his 2 goals I have a feeling he could have a good weekend

    ReplyDelete
  44. @Geobfree - I'd personally definately stick with Deco and Robinho.

@Jamie - I've tried to do a team but only managed to put a couple of 'good' players in and had to surround them with v averagely priced players. Albiol for Madrid is only 1 point, thats a good starting point.

@Anon 8.39 I'd fully expect nani to play having scored last week.

@Anon 10.13 I don't think Sunderland will be an easy game for Blackburn even though they are at home. I think there's better value strikers around for this week's matches. If you think he'll do well, stick him in though. Yahoo's all about instinct and i doubt many others will have him so it could really pay off for you!!

Does anyone know of any good sites to help with the La Liga Fantasy Football? Predicted Lineups etc.. Gona try to get into it this year but find that most of the sites are Spanish (No suprises there!)
