Week 15 - My Team

Howard

Kolarov   Bale   Coleman

Nasri   Nani   Adam   VDV   Cahill

Elmander   Obinna

I made a last minute change after I saw the Arsenal line-up 5 minutes before the deadline...no Van Persie & no Fabregas meant Nasri came in for Malouda. Nasri should be on all corners, free-kicks and penalties and it also put my mind at rest about the Newcastle v Chelsea weather - I certainly didn't want to spend 15 on Malouda and then get a zero if the game is postponed tomorrow, even though I do think the game will go ahead.

The spare money let me upgrade Green to Howard & the rest is pretty standard, Coleman is maybe a slight risk but I'll give him this chance...if he's benched or subbed early I'll drop him next week. VDV might not play but at £6m he was always staying, Cahill, Nani, Bale, Kolarov, Adam, Elmander & Obinna will hopefully all do well. I quite like it as it covers Spurs, Man Utd, Everton, Man City, West Ham, Bolton, Blackpool & Arsenal, a decent spread of players and teams.

Next week Arsenal have the stand-out fixture at home to Fulham, Sunderland are home to West Ham, Man Utd are at Blackpool, Chelsea are at home to Everton & Man City at home to Bolton, so all those teams are worth looking at on the barndoor.

That's it! Please let me know what you ended up with. Who's coming in on the banrdoor?

Cheers,
AM

Alright! Here's to Green having a great week :). thanks AM, you getting rid of Green is a relief lol.

My team:
Green
Boateng/Kolarov/Heitinga
Nani-Dempsey-Cahill-VDV-Adam
Elmander-Tevez

I don't like it as I was keen to get A.Young/RVP ahead of VDV/Tevez, but you know RVP had to be benched. Either way I'm happy because I didn't have to be forced to sell VDV @10, and he's only a doubt so I pray he may play :). Good luck to all and good luck to your picks.

"I saw the Arsenal line-up 5 minutes before the deadline"

I don't see that and regret AM not share with me/us

Jussi
Kolarov,Bale,Heitinga
VDV,Nani,Cahill,Holden
Obinna,Elmander,Gyan

I kept Gyan and hopefully he starts..Jussi over Howard is just a hunch as i foresee Blackpool will have more shots than WBA

Good luck to everyone!!
I wish i had the same team like AM..look strong

Not happy - spent ages on my team, made 5 changes and everything was looking good...but forgot to save! Doh! My results have been bad over the last few weeks - will be interesting to see which of my 2 teams does better - the one I have or the one I didn't save....

Ars players on the BD for me - Nasri and a defender.

To the anonymous idiot moaning I didn't share the Arsenal team.

CtAwesome posted it in the chat room at 11:56am, I had 4 minutes to make changes to my own team, exactly how I'm meant to share that before the deadline I don't know.

I've created this blog, I've created the chatroom, I spend hours of my free time a week writing stuff for NO MONEY to help you, and still it's not enough?

Anonymous said...

Yes AM, you have done a good sharing for "Free"!

Every week there is one or two cock munchers that complain, they should just look elsewhere for advice, look at other sources that you do for Team info or go crazy and come up with their own ideas!

Anonymous said...

Cool down AM, you've done a good job, don't care what he says.

Anonymous said...

The jackass who complained about not getting the tip on the Arsenal lineup really owes Nik an apology. I doubt one's coming so I'll just say on behalf of the other readers of the blog whose heads aren't up their arse, your incredible labors are appreciated by us and this blog has been a great resource. Cheers, mate, and don't let the jerk get you down.

Thanks guys, I shouldn't bother responding to silly comments from anonymous posters but that comment, combined with the guy slagging me off for not updating everyone on the weather reports this morning, and that Peter bloke earlier in the week has really really done my head in.

well NIK i will say this. i respect you alot, especially since you picked nasri and i am arsenal less for a long time.
my team
ben foster in for 5.85 and staying
rafeal...kolarov...phil jones
adam...van der vaart...nani...cahill...downing
gyan...elmander

i should have dropped phil jones, since they are at manure, but last time i dropped onuoha for bosingwa, when he was at chelsea he got 22.5 points and i ended up with 2.5 points. blackburn has a good matchup next week so i am not sweating. van der vaart and gyan could be zeros, so i am looking for others to fill the slack.
i am looking for big weeks for nani, cahill downing, elmander and rafeal

LC said...

Once again good job AM!

My team this week is something slightly different.

Howard
Kolorov, Boateng, Squillaci
Moses, Nani, Arteta, M.Taylor
Chamack, K.Davies, Rooney

Im not too sure about 3 of these players but i expect to hit 100pts at least.

I think im gonna barndoor RVP, Bosingwa, Gordon, and Dunn for next week. May even take a chance with Lampard if he is fit.

Thanks
LC

R,GREEN
BOSINGWA, KOLAROV, JACOBSEN
NASRI, DOWNING, NANI, BOA MORTE
ELMANDER, OBINNA, ZIGIC.

I did have lee chung-yong, but swapped him with nani, as i think nani would give me more points against blackburn... and also i was going with 352, but had little money left, so i ended up with 343, so i brought in ZIGIC... See what happens!

Dave Collier said...

I like your team AM, especially Howard. I made a last minute change from jussi to green (figured both have equal chance of clean sheets). Also snuck in Rooney over tevez, so hoping for a good return!

Thanks for writing down your thoughts on fantasy football every week. I spend at least 2 hrs between here, the chat and the yahoo site every gameweek. You've massively helped me improve my thinking about what to look for each week, and pick out picks i may have missed.

Thank you.

Dear AM,

Never mind about those idiots who complain. Don't you find it amazing that people complain about free stuff (in this case your advice) all the time?

Howard
Boateng Kolarov Salcido
Nani VdV Nasri Holden
Balotelli Rooney Saha

accept the good complain to improve your blog

The Internet is full of keyboard warriors Nik, you have a quality site here, ignore them.

Tuesday night was fun, went to watch us (shrewsbury) play Hereford. In some quarters it's seen a local derby. 2nd half was stopped for 10 minutes coz of Hereford fans fighting with the riot police. Nothing like a good old fashioned League 2 game....

Oh and just barn doored 4 Arsenal players :-)

Anonymous said...

HOLDEN not play...
why???anyone knows??

Anonymous said...

Umm....Anyone have a clue what happened to Holden? He's not even on the bench for Bolton. Nothing about this on his twitter feed either.

As feared, Moyes dropped Coleman for Anichebe. Gonna be a long long weekend.

Anonymous said...

ano @3.33

Is it a serious injury??
How long he expected to be sideline?

Anonymous said...

RE: Holden

I have no idea. According to unofficial reports, he is suffering from a thigh strain. Not an expert, but strain don't seem too serious, so I am hopeful he would be back next week.

Keywords: strain, hopeful

I always give my goalkeepers 2 matches before dropping them and its worked at fine. Kingson to keep a CS to get at me for dropping him, btw thank you Howard.

Yeah Salcido was subbed just after 20 minutes :-(

Very poor week so far.

4 goals with still 20 minutes to go...insanity...

P. Robinson looks like a good bet for next week vs Wolves. Wonder if he'll hit 1.00 after letting in 7.

Anonymous said...

Hi Nik,

Thank you so much for switching Green to Howard. Hehehe. Should have gone with your Capt Kirk when you had your chance.

kwyjibo said...

My team so far: 62 points
Berbatov: 53.5 points

Ugh! The nightmare continues...

Anonymous said...

87.5 with 2 players to go - one of whom is Bale. I almost swapped out Holden for Park last night but didn't. Probably better that I didn't in the long run. I took Doyle of Wolves instead of Ebanks but a number of Wolves players scored well as predicted. Birmingham defenders not so good so I got that one wrong.

Elmander is on a good run and Nani finally overtook Drogs as leading points scorer for today at least.

Here's hoping for a high scoring event at WHL tomorrow and a 0-0 or postponement up in Newcastle.

BCB

PS - AM keep up the good work. I think some of the criticism is meant as constructive but it comes from some who do not have English as their first language so something may get lost in translation. That being said, this is a free service that takes up a lot of his time so I appreciate it, haters be damned.

Thanks AM for the great blog, it's so well written. I enjoy it greatly, ...first season, learning the game and learning about the EPL. I moved up to 7000th with VDV and Konchesky yet to play on Sunday. I watch a game or two on ESPN with my grandsons on weekends.

Your blog brings the games to life-- I hope one positive makes up for a few naysayers.

Howard
Kolarov Rafael Jacobsen
VdV Holden Nani Malouda Nasri

66 points so far though despite having Howard's bloodbath and Holden's no show. At least I never considered Berbs or Green, so I don't have to kick myself. Nevertheless, if I'd stuck with Jussi in goal, I'd have had 15.5 more points. Sigh.

i would not blame AM for his suggestion on GK as he has been unlucky so far on the pick except one of the week for Foster..Howard is definitely one of the hottest pick this week as they have bigger chance of winning and clean sheet and WBA is on dismal form..who have guessed WBA scored 4 goal against the Toffees :p

AM should learn to take things in his stride. When you write a blog, your bound to invite criticisms and often unjustified insults and negativity. Just ask the Fantasist.

Success breeds jealousy and everyone should know that.

I seriously don't think that anon deserved to be called an idiot just because he commented AM didn't share that piece of info before kickoff.
It was a just a knee-jerk reaction imo.

You spent hours on your blog each week and we really appreciate that. But that doesn't mean everyone has to post stuff like "Well done AM", "Thanks a lot AM", "You're the best AM".

But I agree with everyone that AM has done a fantastic job which is why this is by far the best YFF blog site around.

AM, dont think you are soo good. And dont think everyone will give a big hug for you when you write this blog FOR NO MONEY...

To anyone who BD Berbs like me, is he going to be in your team at Blackpool?

100.5pts to finish a great week into 429th place. Any week where you get back what you paid for in pts is an excellent week.

My BD team looks like:

Fabianski
Bale, Kolarov, Richards
Nani, VDV, Nasri, Brunt, Meirales
RvP, Balotelli

I have Rooney, Chamakh, and Mark Davies still at original BD price so my current team is unsaved. I feel like Rooney showed good movement and skill against BBurn but is still short of form, having nani who produces week in and week out seems enough to cover Utd. As for Cham, Wenger usually brings back players from injury in home matches, if its reported RvP will play, hes in for sure. Balotelli is back down below 6mil, a regular steal and produced 7.5 more pts than Tevez this week and has as much ability to score as anyone else on the squad. The problem here is he can get you a brace then a Red Card!

But barring injury/team news I'll probably stick to what I have unsaved!

Good luck!

Arsenal_Bergkamp said...

89pts with holden and Howard.

VDV=>Defoe almost worked very nice if Defoe didn't miss the pK (*AM already warned that he is a bad PK taker) However, I am still happy that I dropped VDV and I am hoping he will sideline at least 1 week(All my rivals are holding vdv at big discounts).

I bded Carson,Nasri, Chamakh, Balotelli, Brunt, squ.

Anonymous said...

No one to blame in the selections we made. Like Tim Howard, who would expect him to concede 4 GOALS at HOME against WEST BROM. haha.

Things are getting very exciting in the EPL this season, not so exciting for me as for the past 2 weeks Timmy Krul and Timmy Howard screwed my points. Maybe I should stop picking any GK with the first name TIMMY. =(

Cheers,
DarkZero

Anonymous said...

Picked up Berbs on the Barndoor because I could. I now hold him at a huge discount... I just enjoy creating more complexities for myself. I don't want him. He is too inconsistent to keep around...

However, the other thing to think about is that he might head out in January, so maybe keeping him around for a month might not be a bad move.

it's funny that I did NOT pick him up for this weekend precisely because Rooney was back. I thought with Rooney up there, Berb will get less action... what do i know?!

95.5 points with zeros from VDV, Holden and Boateng. Satisfied but could have been much better had these three not got injured/benched.
