Week 14 - My Team

 Carson

Coleman   Kolarov   Bale

Van Der Vaart   Adam   Milijas   Nani

Odemwingie   Torres   Gyan

I had Fabregas in my team all week, but as I started getting excited about the game this morning I realised there was no way I could pick an Arsenal player against Tottenham. I expect Spurs to lose today & I also expect Cesc to score big points, but I feel happy with my decision to drop him - real football comes ahead of fantasy!

Carson has a good fixture & was a bargain, which allowed me to afford some more expensive players and of course to keep Bale @ 12. Coleman & Kolarov are also held at big discounts & this trio could be my back 3 for the foreseeable future, barring injuries/suspensions of course.

Charlie Adam is likely to miss out today, but I couldn't find anyone worth swapping him for @ 5.4 so decided to hang on and take the zero if necessary. Nani was a no brainer, Van Der Vaart the same @ 6 & Milijas came in for Fabregas this morning. I think the Blackpool v Wolves game will be open so lots of shooting opportunities I hope!

The Fabs > Milijas switch allowed me to bring Torres in vs rock-bottom West Ham (who will be missing Scott Parker), I still hold Gyan @ 6 and the final striker spot went to Odemwingie - he loves to shoot and often does well for West Brom at home.

So that's my team - it's ok, but I'm not expecting a huge week as I may be taking a zero or two in some positions, and obviously if Arsenal go to town on Spurs then I'll find myself trailing.

That's it for another week. Please let me know what you settled on...and good luck to all!

Cheers,
AM

Hopefully I can turn things around after three bad gameweeks in a row (well, the last one was merely slightly subpar). I had to drop at least three players because of injuries (damned international friendlies), but I think my final line-up has a lot of potential. Fingers crossed. Good luck everyone.

I'm really getting annoyed by the price updates right when the week closes. I had 0.11m left in the bank, then right after close, I suddenly had 7.64m! HUGE difference. So many players dropped by large amounts. Why?! It doesn't make sense. It means the prices were over-inflated to begin with.

Anyway, what it means is that the BD is open even before most of the matches have even started! So, buy away!

Congratulation AM, Spurs Won!!

89.5pts with -10.5 from carson
Kolarov, dempesy, gyan,Kelly to goes. I hope they at at least return 1/2 of their value.

I don't feel comfortable with this team before the deadline and I really don't expect to have 100pts.

Thanks for the great work, AM.
Goodluck to everyone for the remaining games.

your goalkeeper curse is now OFFICIAL, nobody should pick the same gk as you. Just let us know who you're picking in goal. Thank you

I think it's a wise to pick any goalkeeper playing against wolves and maybe westham, they just get balls on target without trying to score.

Birty said...

116 with Brunt not scoring and 3 to play including goal machine gyan. Foster and Davies were outstanding. Holden was disappointing. I'm in the top 1800, 60 points off the lead in my private league and 50 behind AM!

looks like a big week for a lot of people, 100pts will be an average score by the looks of it.

79.5pts so far with Chamwow's pts to be redone (he did not cause the PK), Silva, Coleman, Kolarov, and Gyan.

Felling very confident I can atleast reach 100+

Good luck tomorrow and Monday!

AM must be happy as hell as Spurs rocked Arsenal. You got to trust your team man. No love for Elmander eh...Give him some credit yo

big week indeed to most people.. i'm at 101 points but still drop -77 places overall.. currently at 425th place..

loving this week, although kirk and brown didn't play, i got goalsorer nasri, vdv and bale.. drogba and nani too have massive points without goal.. still have boateng and gyan to play..

Ebi - calm down mate, everyone has had a rough time with keepers this year, the curse is a JOKE. Nobody could predict WBA lose 3-0 at home to Stoke.

Mell - ask MikeB about the email I sent him on Friday night...it basically revolved around dropping Elmander or Odemwingie for Torres...I dropped Elmander in the end. OUCH!

But all that is insignificant for me...we just beat Arsenal AT Arsenal for he first time since I was 11 years old. I'm a very happy man :)

Hope you all had cracking weeks, cheers!!! :)

113 points with kolarov and boateng to go. Seems like an average score as didn't move up much. Hoping Citeh keep a cleanie today.

73 points with Kolarov, Boateng, Gyan and Coleman to go. I thought I did ok with 7 players but i dropped almost 1000 places!!

kwyjibo said...

AM - congrats on the Spurs comeback victory!

As for me, my nosedive continued...it's all falling apart quickly! Scored 79.5 with 3 to play. Dropped another 300 places. In just 2 weeks(4 games) have gone from 313 to 1500.

Oh well...have to find a way to save this season before it's too late.

AdmiraLord Nelson said...

I am scared...I held Drogs and Malouda since week 1....finally I drop them and get 125 points but I could have got 181! why do I feel anxiety abotu letting the Chelsea boys loose only for their prices to go up...?!?!

Anonymous said...

Last week I dropped Bale and he scored a brace. This week I dropped Malouda and he scored 19!!!

I'm falling down the rankings fast and now I'm like 4000 =(

Reina
Coleman Boateng Kolarov
Nani Adam VDV Milijas
Torres Kalou Gyan

73 points from this team with 4 more to go. Milijas is a big disappointment

The key to picking Keepers is to find a strong team who is playing "Away". They should have a good chance to win and a decent chance at a shutout....at the same time, since the lesser team is playing at home, they are more likely to get some shots on target....so by picking the stronger teams keeper, you can get even more points from a few saves.

It doesn't always payout, (example, chelsea this week, but they really aren't on form), but it usually does.....let's see how a visiting Man City keeper does this week at Fulham.

kwyjibo said...

Not only isn't Boateng starting, he's not even on the list of subs...so, there goes one definite zero...

Anonymous said...

Citeh are on rampage, unfortunately i only have Kolarov

Dave2 said...

FYI Kolarov took all but one corner today, and almost every crossing and shooting free kick - a real bonus for a defender, I'd say :)

Even without the CS, he should score decently well, and certainly looks to attack often. Great pick-up for those who have him in the $4-5 range so long as he stays healthy.

Dave2 said...

Tevez on the barn door?? He seems to feast on mediocre opposition, so next week @ Stoke should offer some great scoring chances IMO...

SfSS said...

kolarov seems to be a cheaper version of bale, of course have to see his performance for couple more games, but so far he is really good

Kingson is GOD what a performace 17pts but I sold him immediately during the game picked up Tim howard for next week in case his prices rise.

TAKE GAMBLES WITH SOME PLAYERS DURING THE GAMES FOR THE FOLLOWING WEEK IN CASE OF ANY SERIOUS PRICE INCREASES IT IS STARTING TO PAY OFF TREMENDOUSLY I HAVE DONE IT FOR 2 WEEKS AND SCORED 110 PLUS EACH WEEK

Hi AM! How do you like the idea of helping you in writing your playes suggestions??I mean sometimes you don't have an opportunity to analize every position...may be I can assist!))This would be really great!)

move down to 5000 place this week -_-
because of my confusion and decide to use scholes/brunt beside of meireles/vaughan.
and carson is disaster, boateng not played, this week only give me 95,5 pts althougt there are so many player scored highly this week..
gotta fix it next week..
in this 4 weeks, my rank always went down >_<

Gyan is injured and out of Mondays game accord to daily mirror..

Anonymous said...

Concerning Gyan, if it's true i'll welcome it cos i don't want to drop further. There's not a single news on albrighton, i BD'ed A.Young in case in need to make the switch cos i'll love to have one villa player.

Anonymous said...

It`s Gyan`s birthday today...he is gonna celebrate with a goal or 2...

where`s the link / source for his assumed absence ??

Anonymous said...

Its alright, i also didn't believe Boateng was out until he gave me a big fat zero, though in your case it's too late to make any changes. News on Albrighton's absence only came after the match 2 zeros for me. The link's on fantasyfootballscout btw

Anonymous said...

We will have to wait and see.

This article (updated today) is not saying anything about Gyan being out...

Gyan :( There goes my week. Sigh...

alex d. said...

There seems to be a 'slight' argument on the Ghanian soccer website comment posts as to whether the news about Gyan is or is not true, as those are the only two sites reporting his absence. hmm... I guess we'll find out in a few hours. I have my fingers crossed, as I need Gyan to score a few to save this week for me.

Dang, ESPN Soccernet just upgraded the heck out of their internet

104 points this week, went from 900th to 928th...

Also have Gyan, but as stated above looks like he is out...

I wasn't impressed by any Everton player, i'm dropping Coleman.

Anonymous said...

Tempted to take Tim Cahill this week vs West Brom but he's been appalling when he hasn't scored:

-4, 1.5, 1, 3, 4.5, 4.5

and before this week only had a max of 14pts even with a goal. But then again, he has scored 7 goals now this season, 1 more than Drogba. One to ponder... any opinions?

Anonymous said...

@ ALLA - that's called Barn Dooring.

alla said...

I love to barn door then I just grabbed arteta and cahill in case. Next week looks a little sumthing like this.

Green
evra kolarov p.robinson
Nani arteta cahill (j.cole or yaya undecided)
Elmander davies welbeck

How come Cahill got 0 points?

only the players who were subbed off have got their points so far

@ any Everton fans -
What are Heitinga's chances of starting this week as a fab filler (4.69)?
