Walcott Injured

Not good news for those of us holding Theo around the 8 mark, and you have to feel sorry for him after his great start to the season......

From Metro.co.uk
Arsenal's Theo Walcott was taken to hospital to have an x-ray on his ankle after he was injured in England's Euro 2012 qualifier against Switzerland.

Walcott's right ankle was injured in the build-up to Wayne Rooney's opening goal for England after ten minutes, which the Arsenal player helped set up - picking out Glen Johnson on the wing, who sent over a low cross for Rooney to turn in.

England also suffered another injury in the build-up to their second goal, scored by Adam Johnson, with Spurs striker Jermain Defoe being stretchered off and replaced by Darren Bent. It is not clear how serious Defoe's injury is.

Week 4 Player Picks will be up tomorrow evening, but Walcott's injury means it's back to the drawing board for my team if he's due to spend some times on the sidelines. It looked quite bad so I'd be very surprised if he makes the Bolton game.

Cheers,
AM

That's football, and there is nothing about Arsenal having a curse. I don't want to hear that garbage!

walcott should not play for the national team, he keeps getting injured playing for them. it has to be frustrating for wenger, same with van persie, his knock came from national duty.
arsenal don't have a curse, they just have the worst luck. i wish someone could figure out the average number of players injured per year for arsenal and for the rest of the epl. every year there are other teams with injuries, just not the same teams, but arsenal is knocked up every time.

so TRUE Greg, so TRUE! I agree that this is a crazy coincidence that has been occurring for some 3 years or so now! What makes it the worst is that these players are in such great form and that is why they get picked by national sides only to get injured and lose form! It's a vicious cycle for us Arsenal supporters to witness!

phew! was starting to feel like I was one of the few managers out there to have not invested in walcott at 8...looks like my reticence has been vindicated.

at what point in time do you stop saying that arsenal is unlucky and/or their players are soft and start pointing fingers at their physios/athletic trainers? surely the training regimen endorsed by the team is partially to blame for the number of injuries every year?

still no new players added....come on YFF!!

really hope defoe injury is not serious....

I don't know Doc! but I guess you are just assuming that the trainers and physio staff of one of the world's best football clubs are not up to par, I just can't see why that would be the case.

@DocTeeth - I agree. I was saying this summer that Arsenal should spend any money they have on their Physio dept instead of big name transfers..

maybe Walcott's injury isn't that bad:

"England manager Fabio Capello described the injury as "a little problem" but could not confirm its nature. After the match, Capello said: "I spoke with Theo and he told me it is not a big problem. "I said 'two weeks', he said less."

IF Walcott is truly out, Rosicky at 6mil looks a nice pick, who else would slot in for Walcott? Eboue? Wilshire, but he seems more of a central mid than anything else.

AdmiraLord Nelson said...

Tomáš Rosický over Wilshere, Eboue, and Denilson anyday for sure! Lets wait until Wenger gives us some hints on his starting XI.

if walcott out, it will be rosicky or eboue.. but i think eboue will replace him..

AdmiraLord Nelson said...

Rosický is a better offensive player IMO. Alas, I am not Wenger.

I don't have to worry about him coming up with another hattrick. I have Diaby but i'm not so sure really. Pls who's the best midfielder at 8.25

please!!!

AdmiraLord Nelson said...

@ please!!!

it seems for the money you should snatch up Adam Johnson! if you dont like him then grab Seb Larsson or Stiljian Petrov.

@ Admiral Nelson
I already have A.Johnson and Larsson is 8.31 presently. Should i switch to a fourth defender instead. Thanks

I HAVE NO CLUE. First I would need to see your full squad before making an educated decision about your formation!!!

Al Habsi
Bale Kos Kompany
Malouda Nolan A.Johnson C.Gardner
Drogba Caroll Balotelli

This is my squad for now. I'm thinking of switching C.gardner to Faye but Stoke City have lost all 3 matches thus far.

my current squad:

Stockdale
Bale Stam Kompany
Adam FloMal Nolan/Barton Etuhu
Drogbazooka ChamWow Carrol

VDV & Gyan seems to be another good addition..Still confuse to choose between Nolan & Barton.

Any opinion?
