Not again...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/8455579.stm

I've woken this morning to another 4 inches of snow, all the schools are closed, people are being told not to travel on the roads and the snow is still falling heavily.

If this continues (as predicted) for the next day or 2 then I fear more fixture chaos this weekend.

It's extremely frustrating - add to this the uncertainty regarding Man Utd's double week & I'm finding it difficult to motivate myself to write my Week 19 Player Picks post at the moment!

I think I'll probably wait until we get a bit more news tonight & get the post up tomorrow at some point...hopefully things will be clearer by then. It'll be full of double game recommendations - I can't really look past Man Utd, Spurs, Arsenal & Liverpool players, with maybe a Bolton or Hull player thrown in as a filler...

Cheers,
AM

yeah, let the dust settle on all this uncertainty and I'll start thinking about my squad.

if i had to guess, i would say this week will be a double week for manU,hull, pool, spurs, bolton, arsenal (ignoring weather for a moment) with manU,manC,hull, stoke with a blank week following

AM - you had mentioned a great site for highlights a while back, I can't remember the name?

Nice wheels mate!!

Come on we need your insight, get motivated. Sh1t happens, I had loads of West Ham and Wolves players.

Although it has snowed the weather is warmer and there won't be any ice which is what the concerns were about. All games will be on in my opinion...

AM

Confused about scheduling this week. I understand why you don't think ManU will be a double week.

I would understand if there were no games in midweek after the ManU game but since there is a full card pretty much I can't see the sense...

I think Week 19 will be a game for everyone, and doubles for Arsenal, Bolton, Liverpool and Tottenham (playing again in midweek)

Then Week 20 is a full card EXCEPT a blank week for Man City and Stoke...

That would be the logical way to work it, anyway, we'll have to wait and see...

Hi AM,

I think the best way to go is to load up on Man U double week.

The key picks would be Rooney, Valencia, Kucsak and Evra.

All the rest are doubtful whether they will play doubles (Read Giggs, Scholes, Rafael, Evans etc).

That leaves 7 spots, Chelsea strikers Anelka and Sturridge.

Leaves 5.

This would be Milner, Young, Dunne, Cuellar. Villa Park is fine.

One Enabler from Wolves.

That would be my pick for the week.

i would not include kucsak, as van der sar is back, so kucsak's guarantee to play, is assured.

There have been a lot of messages posted about this week's scheduling and given Yahoo's previous record I can understand people thinking this is another error.
I think it is quite understandable though. The weekend of the 23rd/24th is the FA Cup 4th round weekend and so there were no Premier League fixtures scheduled. I think we'd have all been pretty annoyed if Yahoo had made the 23rd the cut-off, since we'd have had to fix our teams several days in advance and with many of them playing a cup match first.
The ManUtd-Hull game is a rearranged fixture. They can play on Saturday 23rd because both teams lost in the 3rd round of the cup. Since this is before the 26th, it means it falls in week 19. The team manager page shows week 19 as covering games from Jan 16 to Jan 25.
I'm not saying they won't change this, but in view of the clearly displayed week 19 dates I think it is very doubtful. They'll undoubtedly get round to adding the other two rearranged fixtures - Ars-Bol and Liv-Tot and it might be that they change the week deadline at the same time, but I'm fairly sure that those 6 teams will have a double week and that week 20 will start on Tuesday the 26th, unusual though that is.

Guy,
Thanks for your good and detailed insight...
AM,
I really appreciate your blog. Great job!!! But what's this story about EvdS returning to the ManU squadfrom this week? Is his wife fully recovered now? And is he physically & mentally ready???
Though I have Kusz in my team, my concerns are genuine tout de meme...
Best regards to all!!!

i am tickled with my decision to keep cesc. i didn't lose any places or any points by him not playing and now i have him in a double week agains bolton for 17+, and you guys need to spend 21.53, to get him. is bolton going to react like man city did with the new boss. he is a good enough manager, but i want his team to respond the following week against liverpool.

all managers should thank yahoo because put man u vs hull in week 19... if yahoo put that game in week 20 the deadline for tue/wed (26th) matches will be on 23th(man u vs hull) which is 3 days before the games and if your player injured or moved you can't change your team...think wisely :)

Guy - superb analysis mate, thank you so much. It's not something I'd thought of but reading your post makes sense & it seems (for once) Yahoo may actually be thinking about us!

I hope you continue to comment, as this sort of insight is exactly what makes the blog such a success for the readers. :)

Cheers,
AM

One point for Kukuski analysis is that the ManU games are not really a double week. The games are on a Saturday then the following Saturday. The question will be who will play in the Carling Cup Semi and who plays in the league games. SAF usually concetrates on the league encounters so Giggs could play both the league games if fit
