Stephen Hunt

Reading's Stephen Hunt, the man involved in THAT incident with Petr Cech 2 seasons ago, is about to return to the Premier League after Hull City had an offer accepted last night.

Those of you who played the game 2 years ago will remember Hunt was an extremely useful points accumulator. He gets involved, takes corners, took some penalties for Reading; he also gets in the box and pops up with goals & assists, much in the mould of Stephen Ireland. He’s also prone to the odd horrendous tackle, and of course he’ll be playing for Hull, who I believe will be relegated this season.

We'll have to wait and see whether he'll be able to move ahead of Geovanni/Dawson/Marney in the race for set pieces. However, if he’s added to the game at under 6.oo he could be an option in the coming weeks as he’ll probably average around 6 points per match.

p.s. If you're on Facebook, please add yourself to the YFF Assistant Manager group by clicking on the Facebook box to the left of this post. It will help me to put some faces to names & also allow me to alert you when I post something I feel is really important!

Hi Nujra - thanks for visiting!

I've made a couple of changes, mainly defensively, Foster is in and also Bassong but lots will change still.

Your team looks a touch weak up front - Scotland and Nugent are not guaranteed to start & I'd also check Benayoun as he may not play both games. The problem you have is you've spent so much on your defence you probably don't have much left for you attack. I would drop Johnson & possibly Carvalho and spend more up front! :)

ok. in your experience where is the most value for money? i've played a few seasons and generally do ok but not great. I think I was top 4000 last year or something

Spend the majority of your cash on midfielders, they average the highest points score. Then forwards, then defenders. I also always pick the cheapest Keeper who won't get hammered 4-0.

I'm sure I dont have to tell you to pick midfielders who take set pieces & as many penalty takers as you can. I pick cheap defenders who play (eg Wilkinson, Givet) and occasionally if I have money left over i'll splash out on an Evra or Johnson for a Week. Otherwise it all goes on midfielders & forwards.

This was an early piece I wrote
. Things have changed (injuries/suspensions) but you get the idea!

ok great thanks. well after looking at that team i have just put together a very quick week 1 team. any thoughts?

foster
o'shea wilkinson hreidarsson (did wonders for me last year)
lampard gomez (thanks nice tip) nani milijias (haven't heard of him, so i'll be blaming you if he doesn't deliver :P)
torres drogba rodallega (good replacement for scotland, but guarnteed starter)

Much better, although Hreidarsson is now injured. I'm going with Milijas too - he was recommended by other readers so don't blame me entirely ;)

ok. well I think i'll switch him out for bassong then. Are you going to post up your team before the season start? or do you like to keep it a well-kept secret?

on second thoughts i'm putting in graham alexander of burnley (yes, I know) over wikinson as he is a defender classified as a middy, and he takes kicks

No, I won't be posting my final team up, not until after deadline anyway. While I trust the majority will make their own informed decisions, if I post my final team up, there's a risk people may copy it, even if it's no better/worse than their own team!

Damn you AM! You and Fidan have brought up too many times Malouda over Valencia and now I think about throwing Nani into the mold! You guys have made me consider some switches, sigh, the job is never done!

Hmm found a way to have Nani + Malouda, but not Malouda + Valencia. Will mull this one over carefully.

IF Nani is deemed fit of course!

Yep, check Nani's starting status for sure - I'd be surprised if Ferguson risks him only a week after he dislocated his shoulder.
