Darren Bent

As Darren Bent puts the finishing touches to his Sunderland transfer today, I can't help but feel it's a great move for him.

No matter what the Spurs fans thought of him, he scored goals for the club. He was top scorer last season despite having less time on the pitch than our other strikers and his overall record at White Hart Lane was impressive, with 25 goals in just 43 starts (plus sub appearances).

The problem at Spurs was the way the team played football. Bent's 1st touch is not his strongest attribute and quite often flowing moves would be interrupted by the ball rebounding off his shin and out for a throw in. His strengths are his pace and his finishing, which is why he thrived at Charlton as the lone striker playing on the last defender, chasing balls over the top for 90 minutes, week in week out. This wasn't the sort of football played during his time at Tottenham and while it's not exactly the type of football played at Sunderland, they certainly have a more direct style which will suit him.

He'll get chances & he'll take his fair share of them. Even the ones he doesn't put away, he does tend to hit the target which means he will always pick up points. I wouldn't be surprised if he scored 15 Premier League goals this season, and at just over £9 million he could represent a real bargain for fantasy managers. Maybe not for Week 1, butI reckon there are worse option if you're looking for a striker for under 10.

How will this affect Campbell? Badly is my guess.

Agreed - I'm sure Jones & Bent will be the first choice pairing.

I think it will be a great move for him personally.
He never really got the chances he deserved at Spurs.
